Meanwhile Robin doesn’t know how to show Nancy she loves her, and she’s spent most of post-season 4 and throughout season 5 and afterwards recording goodbye messages for her on a mixtape. Because if you can’t express how you feel in words, record a mixtape instead.

PS - I realise there is a story Every Little Thing She Does Is Magic (which is exceptionally well written might I add) and I’ve only just read today quite concerned of some similarities - it’s coincidental. So apologies!

The first time the clock chimed, Mike Wheeler thought it was part of the campaign.
He was mid-sentence, hands hovering over a crumpled character sheet, explaining why Dustin absolutely could not tame a demodog using “the power of friendship,” when the sound rolled through the basement.
A deep, hollow toll.
Not from upstairs.
Not from the street.
From everywhere.
The others did not react.
Lucas was arguing. Dustin was waving a pencil like a sword. Will was watching Mike with that quiet, thoughtful expression he got when he was already rewriting the ending in his head.
Another chime.
Mike blinked.
The basement lights flickered once, then steadied. The D&D board sat between them like a tiny battlefield. Dice frozen mid-roll. Miniatures casting long shadows that did not quite match the direction of the lamp.
“You good?” Will asked.
Mike forced a grin. “Yeah. Just building suspense.”
Because that was his job, right? -
