Wednesday had been shocked the first time she heard Enid touching herself, but after night after night of the same thing, the noise could almost be considered comforting, if you were into that kind of thing. She never looked, not when she knew Enid was preparing. She knew the soft scrabbling as she lay there, her legs spread and her pants down. It was always that first breath that startled Wednesday, though, that soft sigh of contentedness. Enid was mostly silent as she touched herself, but sometimes, she would mouth words, and sometimes, those words would be said just loud enough for Wednesday to hear. Most of the time, the word was "Ajax", but today, something different passed her lips.
