Summary
Sunday, November 16th of 1809, 8 people broke the curse in Oakhurst and were finally able to leave. 200 years later, on November 16th of 2006, 4 of the 8 people return back to Oakhurst for their annual tradition of visiting the graves of their long gone friends.
Deep in one of those graves lies a secret, one that waited 200 years to rise once again. Things change a lot in 200 years, some more than others.
Or Scott goes back to Oakhurst and finds a very much alive Avid.

“It’s so funny that you went with a vampire costume,” Avid replied. He went ahead and let himself into the house, a habit after so long of visiting. Shelby didn’t even notice the intrusion, content to shut and lock the door behind him. “You look great. Very sophisticated and intimidating.”
“Isn’t it the coolest?” Shelby brightened, giving a little twirl. “I had the contacts and the wig from a while back, but Scott helped me pick out my actual outfit a few hours ago.”
Avid froze.
“Oh?” His voice came out hoarse and barely audible. “Really? Scott helped you?”

I loved this so much! It's really impressive how Avid and Scott's dynamic is captured, since the world that their characters live in is important to their characters and how their characters interact. This world is a college au, so I was curious to see how that would work, and it was so fun! Their characters are portrayed so accurately- this was a blast to read.

I started this for funsies and then I got emotionally invested- wdym an Avid/Scott fic where Avid comes back from the dead that was supposed to be fluff turned into THIS MASTERPIECE
don’t get me wrong I’m sure it was never supposed to be completely fluff it’s just I started it when I was still in denial over Avid’s death (I say like I’m not anymore- I definitely am) and so I kind of manipulated myself into thinking it was mostly fluff. And then was hit with chapter 18- wtf I was just being happy again -

Definitely one of the best longer Aviscott fics I’ve read!!! The forced proximity trope is so fun and well executed here, leaving me squealing and giggling and kicking my feet. "Um." He blinks once, twice and looks away before the third one. Unable to stand how Scott watches him, unblinking in his intensity. "A nest?" Scott's irritation doesn't wane with his answer, if anything — if possible — it only grows stronger. "My nest?" He tries instead.
He looks back into the corner he had claimed as his, a good few feet from his bed and tucked cosily into the corner, safe. The bed he had been gifted, in all its bare-mattressed glory, sat squarely in the centre of the room, exposed on all sides. His nest had walls all around, nestled comfortably where they converged, right in the junction so he can push himself back into the wall and feel secure. Surrounded on all sides and eyes on the door, comforted, even if it's nothing but cold, unfeeling brick.
"That," Scott spits, no small amount of venom in his voice, "is not a nest."
