Summary
For everyone, but Shikamaru, it seemed that life happened as it should. You turn 14, you display your secondary gender, and then get lumped into nice, pretty categories. Not for Shikamaru who never expressed, and yet two alphas seem hell-bent on making him their mate. How will that unfold? And what will happen when nightmares from the past threaten them?
A/N: This does not follow canon after the 4th Shinobi War. Some things are the same. There will be references for Sasuke going on his own for redemption, and I will likely make Shikamaru's Hiden Story canon at some point.

Sasuke really wants Shikamaru to be his but is afraid he doesn't deserve it. Add onto the fact that he's gotten it into his head that Shikamaru never had a choice leads him to running again. This time however, Naruto is with him and manages to knock some sense into his mate before Sasuke regrets everything.

Shikamaru runs into his best friend six years after Naruto left the village and with their reunion, several things were made abundantly clear:
1. Naruto had finally grown into a towering young man with broad shoulders and sun-kissed skin.
2. Naruto was stronger than anyone he had ever met.
3. Shikamaru was still irrevocably in love with him.
4. And Naruto was the only one that could help him learn how to use the tailed beast that was now sealed inside of him.What a drag.

Shikamaru hated being an omega. No, that wasn’t right. He hated the stereotypes around being an omega. Just because they had a womb and carried children made them less. Made them weak. It was easy to think that way as well. They made others go stupid with their scent, demanding protection and once a month, they needed to be knotted. Alphas were only better marginally in the fact that they didn’t have to deal with growing another baby for the next nine months. A rut? Troublesome.
