A smarter man might have given up. Hell, a smarter man might have simply asked someone else—sure, Tucker had the keys, but the drummer was also a bit of a dumbass sometimes, and he probably wouldn’t notice if someone had swiped them from his vest when he wasn’t looking. Tim had decades of experience sharing a touring space with Tucker—surely, Frank could ask Tim and the bassist would help him. Or refuse to get involved.
So Frank, understandably, was caught off guard when one night, after begging Tucker to please just do this one fucking thing for him, he’ll never ask for anything else again (a lie), the drummer responded with a simple, “Yeah, okay.”

“The fucking best,” he replied, trying to play it cool. He could tell he was failing when the grin on her face increased ever slightly—and she looked up behind Tucker’s shoulder, where Lexie stood, unbeknownst to her own husband. Frank hadn’t even noticed.
“Hear that, Lex?” she asked, causing Tucker’s head to whip around. “The fucking best.”
Lexie’s grin also looked dangerous. “Oh, I heard.”
