Summary
Zack can’t believe he’s late, on today of all days. His favourite day of the year. It’s going to be ruined for him, not a single thing could possibly turn it around—
“Oof.”
“Shit, shit,” Zack blurts. He reaches out, but the source of the collision is already on the ground. “I’m so sorry, I wasn’t—”
Paying attention.
Zack wasn’t paying attention, because if he was, he would have clocked this guy from a mile away. He blinks up at Zack, blue eyes a little wide, clearly startled, maybe completely unsure how he made it onto the ground.
He’s so—so fucking pretty. Zack stares down at him.Alternatively: Zack runs into Cloud on the most important day of his life. Literally.

Summary
It takes Zack an entire year to successfully ask Cloud out on a date. Not for want of trying—Cloud is just really obtuse, it turns out. It's been smooth sailing since then. Ish.
“Glad you’re feeling better,” Zack whispers.
“Glad I didn’t just vomit, you mean,” Cloud laughs.
Zack shrugs and Cloud takes his hands back. Which kind of sucks.
“I’d have kissed you anyway,” Zack promises.
Cloud flusters, physically startles and half scowls as he slams his palm against Zack’s armour. It makes an obvious, loud noise, not helping Cloud’s distress at all.
“Gross,” Cloud hisses.
“You’re just that pretty,” Zack teases.Alternatively: The rules are fuzzy, but Zack doesn’t think either him or Cloud will get fired if anyone finds out they’re dating. He’s pretty sure.

Summary
“I think we should have sex.”
Zack freezes, his mind grinding to a halt. There’s no way he could have predicted that coming out of Cloud’s mouth, today, with no warning.
“It’s really the perfect time for us to—to take the next step,” Cloud mumbles, staring away somewhere over Zack’s right ear.
Zack wonders if he’ll ever get to hear Cloud say something so plainly forward as we should have sex ever again.
“Why?” Zack asks.
“You’ve met my mom,” Cloud says. “I’ve met your—your Angeal.”Alternatively: As always, it's Cloud pushing them onward.
