Summary
Xavier Thorpe’s eyes have not left her face. The high of the kill is wearing off, but he doesn’t seem fazed, not in the way a normal person would be. The blood staining his face highlights the plane of bone, the shape of his skull perfectly. She wonders what sort of monster she is prepared to open her heart to. “Will you pay me court?” she asks, interrupting his thoughts.
He stares at her. “Miss Addams,” he says at last – because of course he’s guessed who she is – “I would love to.” He smiles at her, the boyish charm in contrast is as jarring as it is swoon-worthy. Disgusting. Wednesday loves it at once.

Vincent glances between them and an itching embarrassment crawls up Xavier’s spine. His dad had always wanted him to be with a girl from a good family; he’s spent the past few years hinting and pushing for it, and the Addams name is definitely attractive to him, but it is obvious that Wednesday is not what he expected. Wednesday exudes a confidence that will not be intimidated. “Will your girlfriend be joining us for dinner?”
“I appreciate your hospitality, but my Abuela has been preparing a special meal for me,” she answers, glancing up at Xavier.

Wednesday is dressed all in black, her pale shoulders sharp under a veil that is like a swath of shadow. Her hair falls down her back in a dark sheet ripped from the night sky. The dress is silk and lace, cutting away as she walks toward him. He is bewitched.
When she joins him at the altar he leans down toward her, taking her hands. Her eyes are dark and beautiful and he feels as if he’s on fire with happiness. “I’ll met by moonlight, proud Titania,” he says lowly.
