Summary
For years, their rivalry has been the perfect cover for something far more dangerous. Separate teams and conferences allowed them to hide their secret relationship behind hard hits, heated stares, and carefully managed media narratives. Being enemies was safe. Being teammates is not.
By the time Shane lands in Boston, the media frenzy is already in full swing, eager to see how the former rivals will coexist. Their first meeting in the Raiders’ locker room is charged and restrained — two men pretending they’ve never touched, shaking hands like strangers while the team watches.
On the ice, though, the problem becomes obvious. They play like they’ve always belonged together — instinctive, seamless, lethal. Teammates start noticing. The chemistry is too natural. Too practiced

Summary
“I did something stupid,” Shane confesses, inhaling rapidly. He's still crying, still frozen in the doorway, besides his hitching chest and watering eyes. Hayden's never seen him like this, overtaken with emotion, bitter exhaustion in his voice. He makes a soft choked noise, and Hayden immediately wants to kill something, whatever it is that's making him feel so awful. “I—Hayds—you're gonna hate me—”
“No,” Hayden says before he can even finish the thought, almost hurt by the accusation. “No way. You're—I wouldn't. I won't.”
Shane sniffs, offering him a sad smile, his eyes watery and solemn. It's an unfamiliar look, burnt through with sorrow and twisting doubt, sharp worry in the furrow of his brow. “You are,” he says, soft and certain. “I do, and I'm the one who's doing it.”
OR: Shane returns to the hotel room, post-tuna melt. Hayden spirals.

Summary
“Rozanov needs a place to stay. His visa won’t allow him to go home to Russia over the break, and we don’t have the cash to put him in a hotel.”
Did the Harvard dorms completely shut down over the winter break? What about the dining hall? Shane supposed he didn’t really know. He’d never stuck around to find out, when he was younger.
“Okay?”
Coach raised his eyebrows. “So, he’s staying with you.”
Shane’s eyes went wide.
“What?”
“Come on, Captain,” Wiebe looked down his nose at Shane. “Try not to look too thrilled.”

Summary
This is part of a longer series & there are things referenced in here that are directly related to the previous works. It is canon-compliant with the TV series Heated Rivalry. The time period is post-Rookie season MLH awards to the summer of 2014 (all of S1E2). It uses no source material from the books. This is a take on all of the missing time from the show. What were Ilya and Shane up to? How did they feel about not hooking up for over two years?
During warm ups, Ilya noticed that Shane was near center ice doing his stretches. He decided he’d meander over and see if he couldn’t engage. Once he was a few feet away from him, Ilya said, “Hollander.”
Ilya bent over and acted like he was fiddling with the blade of his stick.
Shane didn’t respond. And Ilya couldn’t cross the center line to force the issue. Shit. He stood up, did a couple of circles on the ice and used the motion to move right up to the line. He tried to ensure that his voice was soft, but not overly emotional. He couldn’t let himself sound like he was begging. Even though he was.
“Hollander. Please.”
Shane still wouldn’t look at him. “Go away, Rozanov.”

Summary
Shane liked being good at things, and Shane was good at hockey. His mom loved hockey. His friends and classmates had always loved hockey. Hell, Canada loved hockey. Being good at hockey was like being good at being Canadian boy and being the best at something was like being good at being Asian.
OR
heavily exploring the pressure shane hollander’s under—undereating, overexercising, missing home, being a baby-faced teenage phenom, and, of course, being mixed with an asian mom :p basically a character study into shane’s habits of restriction and self-punishment. he has denied himself every pleasure in life… up until ilya rozanov. he’s the one thing he can’t refuse.
