Shinsou is used to taking in the stray cats living near his apartment complex. They provide good company on the long nights he can't seem to get his mind to slow. He's used to the flow of cats roaming his apartment before eventually finding forever homes. One night, he hears something crash onto the fire escape outside of his apartment. Thinking it's another stray, he checks it out.
What he finds is an injured vigilante bleeding out right by his apartment.

They say imitation is the highest form of flattery, so hopefully the hero won't be too upset if he ever finds out about it. In the meantime, Izuku might just be able to become a hero without a quirk, so he's certainly going to try.

“Izuku,” Shouto says, seriously, taking subtle pride in the way that he’s allowed to use Izuku’s given name.
Izuku looks up from his own notebooks (that Shouto might have taken inspiration from) to look at Shouto, eyes wide like they almost always are. “Yes, Shou-chan?” The other replies, and Shouto feels a wave of affection wash over him at the nickname - a sudden want to take Izuku away and make sure that no one can ever hurt him. It’s not an unusual feeling. Shouto seems to feel that sort of emotions around his closest friends a lot nowadays.
“Date me.”
Izuku blinks. “I- What?”
…Maybe Shouto should have phrased that better.

So it seems that the true initiation to the Dekusquad is to… enable the fake dating polycule with the main purpose of pissing off Endeavour and secondary purpose of making a profit off the bets surrounding their speculated romantic relationships?

Summary
Midoriya Izuku is medically quirkless, not technically homeless, perpetually exhausted and doing his damned best despite it all. He also sees spirits, which might be cool if not for the fact that a) no one else does, b) they really don't like him very much, and c) he's pretty sure the heroes now think he's a villain working for the League.
Aizawa Shota just wants to take down Overhaul, rescue Eri, keep his students alive, get some rest, and find out how this Deku kid knows things he absolutely should not know about his personal life and the Shie Hassaikai case.
Unless Nighteye's right, and the kid really is a villain.
