The song of the Sea

Summary:

The song of the Sea is beautiful, peaceful and gentle.

Tides crashing down the shore and wind breezing through and the moonlight illuminated the night.

A little mermaid rose from the depths and prayed to a moonless night, poor little mermaid trap in the clutches of death.

Notes:

I should be doing avian.... But instead my brain went mermaid.

Chapter 1: Even God is afraid of Death

Chapter Text

The blue ocean waved in motion on the surface, dark brown hair floating on the surface as its head rose up to view the night sky. The moonlight not to be seen troubled her, raising a hand towards the sky, watching thousands of diamonds twinkle.

Lips pursing as she clenches her chest, the tides pushing her gently. Droplet of liquid fall from her cheek “12 moons, how long can I swim away from death’s claws…” She cried, praying to the moon that was not nowhere, a hopeless wish she hopes would be answered “Please…help us, even if it’s not me, save my children from this cruel faith!”

Silence, only tides of the ocean filled her ears.

Eyes dropping down in hopelessness, taking another minute to gaze upon the night sky and the cold wind. The vast ocean free and mysterious, she hoped on day she could see everything but wishes aren’t meant to be answered.

Diving back down, her black scales glisten before being submerge in water. Her locks trailing behind her like waves as she swam down to the bottom, making her way to a cave with the soft sand brushing her tail.

Her babies laid asleep, curled up together. Brown fluffy hair brushing against the soft golden locks, the brunette wrapping their tail around the smaller one, hugging them protectively and securely.

She slowly made her way towards them, brushing her soft hands against her babies’ cheeks. Paranoia still linger, not knowing how long this freedom will last for them.

Her babies can’t survive in the wild yet, she couldn’t let them leave the nest so young and frail.

She was about to lay next to her babies until she saw a shadow pass the entrance, her eyes widen and tugged the pile of seaweed to cover her babies. Grabbing a sharp fish bone she use to keep herself and her babies safe from predators.

Cautiously swimming out of the cave, peering over the entrance before deeming it was safe to go out. Scanning the area to spot any indifference but that proved to be meaningless as she didn’t find anything out of the blue.

Still the linger feeling of eyes follower her movement didn’t cease, she kept looking around but there was none. Looking back to the entrance of the cave to find nothing but her babies safe and sound…perhaps it was just her imagination?

“I found you my love~” hands wrap around her waist, tightening with each breath she took “Oh my lovely little mer~” a voice from behind sang softly, its tail would wrap around her like an eel.

The hand slithered towards her’s, grabbing the sharp object and tossing it away “You shouldn’t taint yourself love~” They said.

Kristen hit them with her elbow, they grunted in pain as she dropped to the sea floor, her nails digging against the sand, staring wide eye at the predator looming in front of her.

They hummed, sharp teeth showing “ I was so worried about you dear~” Kristen barely saw them move when she felt herself get pinned down, their tail slithering around her’s, locking her in place.

“Now now…calm down love…is that a way to treat your mate after so long?” Kristen stared at their dangerous blue eyes, her tears mixing with the water around them “Y-You force me to become your mate!” She cried, the scaly hand caressing her cheek lovingly “Did i?” They chuckle before leaning down and kissing the mer.

Kristen struggle helplessly, but the siren kept her in place. It felt like forever before they stopped and lift their head to smile at her lovingly and possessively…it terrified her.

“Should I remind you why your mine?”

“N-NO!”

Kristen thrashed helplessly, but the siren only gave an amuse smile. She only stopped when she heard a childish voice behind the siren “M-Mom?”

Phil peered over his shoulder to spot a small little mer clenching her hands to their chest, terrified and slightly skinny. That can’t be healthy.

It’s been so long since he saw his baby, they’ve grown so much but without him…how sad. But he doesn’t need to worry about that now! He found his lovely family and can finally take them back home!

He opens his mouth to sing, cast a little spell on his family so they won’t have to pull a struggle. Kristen quickly caught on and tried to warn her baby but the scaly hand covered her mouth.

Wilbur tremble, backing away from the dangerous siren that kept his mother pinned down. Dangerous eyes never leaving him “Rest your little head, little ones~” The siren began to sing, Wilbur tried to cover his ears but failed. Feeling his body being heavy as a rock.

The siren lets go of his mother, but unlike him, she struggled against the seeping spells in her body, mouthing something he couldn’t understand. No sound left his mother’s mouth, leaving him to guess what she said.

But he wasn’t given much time to wander in his thoughts as a scaly hand stroke the side of his safe, he didn’t dare look up at the siren but their hand went down to his chin and made him look eye to eye with them.

“My little pearl~” Their voice gentle as a lulling wave, but he was aware how a siren can easily control those around them and mermaids happen to be on the list of things.

“Little one hush now and let yourself fall into darkness~” They sang, holding the little mer as the song lulled them to sleep. Cradling the little one on his arms happily and turned to his mate “Let’s go home my love~” Kristen hated how strong Phil’s spells were, the spells of a Siren.

It pulled her body like strings, making her raise from the ground and nod “I know we have one more love~ do you wanna take our little pearl while I grab the other?” Phil asked with a gentle smile, as if her running away with her children was nothing more than a game.

Kristen bit her lips and reluctantly swam back to the cave, picking up her youngest baby that whined before leaning their head to her chest. She mouthed ‘I’m sorry’ before going out, her mate waiting for her.

She realizes that the moon never shined whenever death goes somewhere…it never appears.

Maybe she should had realized that sooner.

There wasn’t hope escaping when even the moon is afraid of them.

“Let’s go home love~”
