Chapter Text

Embarrassingly, it took Izuku two more attempts to realise he couldn’t die.

After a few minutes he’d come to the conclusion that maybe he just didn’t know how high you’d have to fall in order to die. He hadn’t really wanted to die from falling onto a street, that would mean at least one civilian would have to find his body, which he’d like to avoid. So, he’d made the completely rational decision to try drown himself.

When that also failed he’d thought maybe someone had pulled him out of the water before he’d died. He’d thought it was odd that whoever saved him had left while he was still unconscious and didn’t call anyone but he was quick to move onto the next way to die.

He’d grabbed his bag rather quickly, no point in leaving it at the bridge, and left to go back to his house. Walking in he’d stopped to throw away the note, his body wouldn’t be in that place anymore so they wouldn’t need the note anyway. He’d grabbed a kitchen knife from the counter and dragged it across his throat. He’d hit the ground in less than a minute.

Waking up he finally came to the conclusion that he couldn’t die. “This is so stupid” he grumbled while getting up.

Deciding to look at himself in the mirror he noticed the injury around his neck had healed, leaving only a shiny pink scar.

He has now come to the conclusion that he couldn’t stay here. Eventually someone will notice that his mother hasn’t gone to work in too long (when he’s pretty sure she tries to stay at work for as long as possible usually) and he doesn’t want get put into the system so he’s quick to bolt into the streets again, now with all the things he could fit in his bag. Once he’s got a new place to live he’ll have to come back and get the rest of his things.

After walking for god knows how long Izuku realises he has not idea where he is, that is until he smells that gross smell of trash that he’d smelt earlier. Ugh! He’s walked in a circle! This time though, he notices a large enough building that upon closer inspection, seems abandoned. Well.. he does need a place to live.

Katsuki is confused and frustrated because he’s confused! Deku hasn’t been at school in a week and Deku never misses school so why has he been gone for a whole week?

As Katsuki walked into his house he heard crying coming from the living room. Frowning even more then he already had been he walked into his living room to see his mom crying in front of two men, one man wearing a large coat and hat, and another in a black jumpsuit, with dark hair and tired eyes.

He was even more confused and, as always, spoke before he thought, “What the fu- heck is going on?”

He was quick to catch the swear word that almost left his mouth. The two men turned to face him, his mom wasn’t really in the state to reply anyway. It was the man with tired eyes who responded, “Have you recently seen or heard from either Midoryia Inko or Midoriya Izuku?”

Oh no. The fact that there are people in his house asking about the nerd and auntie can’t be good. He thinks he’s probably (read: definitely) worried about the nerd but Katsuki has never been good at conveying his emotions through words and the words just come out to fast for him to think, “No, the nerd hasn’t been at school all week! Why are you asking Hobo?”

The tired man raises an eyebrow at him while the other man looks away and coughs to try cover up a laugh. The tired man - hobo, his mind supplies is the one to explain the next thing to him (objectively the worst part, as he was about to discover), “Midoryia Inko hasn’t gone to work in about a week, we were hoping you would know where she was.”

His blood ran cold, he hadn’t seen Deku for about a week. He’d been horrible to him the last time he saw him. Despite popular belief Katsuki does not hate Deku, but he knows Deku can’t protect himself and really all he says is what the teachers say and think is okay, “You’re going to find him though?”

The hobo’s eyes soften at the question. He huffs a quiet sigh, “We’re going to try, kid”

After the two men promised to keep them updated they left and Katsuki stormed upstairs to go stress clean his room.

Shouta felt so guilty when after two week he still hadn’t solved the Midoriya case. It was always difficult in Shouta’s line of work when he couldn’t find someone. However, it was worse when it was a kid who was missing.

Eventually one of his lovely husbands told him that he had to return to the Bakugou residence to break the bad news. They’d found a ripped up note in a trash bin, both halves together was Inko’s death note, and on the other side of one half was Izuku’s suicide note.

They hadn’t found Izuku or Inko’s bodies but by this point it was pretty clear both of the two were dead. Shouta had used a nights patrol to process it but he knew he couldn’t hold off on talking to the Bakugou’s.

Him and Naomasa arrived at the Bakugou household in the afternoon on a Saturday, they knocked on the door and were let in by a brown haired man. The kid joined them and spoke before Shouta could break the news, “Did you find him? Where the fuck is he”

Oh no. This is going to be horrible. Thankfully his lovely husband broke the new for him, “Unfortunately we found what has been determined a suicide note written by Midoriya Izuku, my condolences”

If Shouta felt terrible before, then now he felt horrible now. The kid was now mumbling about needing to be a stronger better hero, while his mother broke down in sobs and her husband started comforting her. Oh the kid wanted to be a hero.. oh fuck him he’s going to make a bad decision, wasn’t he? “You want to be a hero? I could help train you.”

Of course the kid accepted his accidental offer.

Fuck.

————————————————————

Katsuki met him when on a walk around the city. He and the purple haired met because Katsuki had seen him just after school would end (he’d stupidly been given the week off to process ‘Zuku’s death) because a group of kids were taunting him (like he use to taunt ’Zuku) and he just had to step in.  All it took was a few explosions for the other kids to go running.

Katsuki helped the kid up and they go to talking, “Are you alright?”

He only asked to be polite (he hadn’t asked ‘Zuku that enough) the kid replied quietly, “Yeah, you probably don’t want to talk to me. My quirk lets me brainwash people”

‘Zuku would’ve thought that was such a cool quirk- no! He needs to focus on this! “Pff! You think I care? Is that why those kids were fucking with you?”

The kid nods and Katsuki came to the decision that he would now be this kids friend. Whether he likes it or not, “What’s your name?”

“Hitoshi Shinsou,” Shinsou replied

“I’m Katsuki Bakugou, we’re friends now. I’ll walk you home,” Katsuki stated, letting Hitoshi lead the way.

Izuku was desperately trying not to fall into the numb statically safe place in his head. Usually he was kept from it due to the starvation his mother caused for him. But well… that wasn’t exactly going to happen anymore.

It had been just over three weeks since he left his house, so far he only left the abandoned warehouse to get food. That’s what he was trying to do just now.

Unfortunately he’d gotten blocked from leaving with the food he’d had to steal by a robber. Funny that there was a thief trying to rob another technical thief. Thankfully he was saved by pro hero Endeavour! After the theif had been detained Izuku decided that he couldn’t help but ask if he too could be a hero even without a quirk.

So he went up to the flame hero who wasn’t overly happy with him coming to talk to him, “What do you want, brat? I don’t have time to give you an autograph right now.”

Izuku floundered before responding quickly, as to not hold up the hero, “oh no I don’t need an autograph. I just had a question? Do you think a quirkless person could ever become a hero?”

Izuku had avoided mentioning his curse, it was proven to be smart when the hero replied, “You’re a quirkless null? Why the fuck would you think it’s acceptable to even talk to me! No you can’t be a hero, you’re hardly a human! Get out of my sight!”

Izuku is not dumb, he was gone halfway through his speech.

Turns out the shock of Endeavour’s response to him wasn’t enough shock to keep him from going into the fuzzy place in his head. He doesn’t really remember much of anything after that, though he does remember some guy with purple scars covering his face telling Izuku that Endeavour “doesn’t know shit about being a good hero, you totally could be a great hero!”

Izuku hates waking up after being in the statically place because he doesn’t ever remember much and that means he needs to check himself over to make sure he wasn’t hurt in his state. This time he found several slashed cuts across his arms, they’d already scared over which means he’d “died” when he was in the statically place.

Fuck him, he really misses his mother now.

Notes:

I actually experience Izuku’s fluffy/staticky feeling so feel free to explain that to me before I research it. Oh also do you guys want me to put the chapter plan (no they’re not done) for each chapter out with the chapter? Also I realised while writing this that I should probably mention that I’m dyslexic and have Erb’s palsy so if I just disappear it’s because of one of those lol

Notes:

I was going to post this after I got the general outline for this fic done but I had a shit day so here it is. Discovered I like this girl but she has a boyfriend so I wrote. Sorry if it’s shit lmao. Hope you enjoyed tho.
