Fiyero POV

The South Stairs felt cold and damp as Fiyero made his way down.

He knew this day would come but he had hoped it would not be so soon.

Guards stood on every corner as he entered the cell.

"It seems we have come to this. I cannot delay it any longer." Fiyero said as he looked at the man on the floor.

His leg had not healed after Glinda's attack.

"I have nothing to say." The would be assassin said. Fiyero striked him in the ribs with his sheathed sword.

"Perhaps but we have found one of your accomplices. Mice are a smart touch, I'll admit. They go unnoticed because of their size and can get into almost any place. Unfortunately for you the former King is quite adept to these kinds of attentions." Fiyero said.

Anger filled him once more. As Captain he should have thought of this possibility and he did not. It put his loved ones in danger. It put all of Oz in danger.

The prisoner paled for a second. He was not expecting them to find the Mouse.

"One of the guards has already caught him and he's being questioned. You dont have much time now." Fiyero said.

"You lie. Everyone knows Queen Elphaba does not harm her enemies. She would not allow it." The prisoner smirked.

Fiyero laughed. The sound bounced off the walls echoing throughout the cells. It seemed to unnerve the assassin.

"Yes, Elphaba is known to be a kind Queen. She has forgiven even those who tried to do her harm but you have miscalculated. Did you not see the skies? You attacked Glinda. Someone the Queen holds dear and you think her kindness would extend to you? More importantly, do you think I would let you threathen those I hold dear?" Fiyero asked, landing another blow to the man's face.

Elphaba had already approved this man's death. She had to. For Glinda and on a deeper level, for her crown.

The Baronet would not see this injustice pushed aside. They had to have vengeance and so Elphaba had to give it to them.

The royal family and the people of Oz danced on the borderline when it came to control.

Elphaba was loved by her people but not unopposed. People like this had to be dealt with properly and he signed his death warrant the second he stepped foot in that garden.

"Someone is feeding you information that you should not have. Someone who knows Lady Glinda and the Queen. Someone who knows about the babies and their magic. Who is it?" Fiyero asked.

The silence rang in his ears. Moments ago he was enjoying a ball and now he had to do his duty to Oz and Elphaba.

"I cannot. This will not stop them. You are to dispose of me anyway. Why should I help you when you take the magic of Oz for yourself?"

Take the magic of Oz?

Fiyero stepped away and ran the question through his mind.

All Elphaba has tried to do is protect magic in Oz. She started academies to foster any magical potential found. She would not hurt what she had worked so hard for.

There was only one person would share that viewpoint in this land.

Fiyero stepped on the prisoner's leg, making him scream out in pain.

"Thank you. You have given me exactly what I needed. Prepare him for execution. Ser Chuffrey will have his vengeance." Fiyero said as he stood and rushed to the council room.

Oscar was sat at the head of the table, reports all around him.

"I know who it is. Who is behind all of this madness." Fiyero says.

Oscar's eyes grew dark, the rage flowing through him once more.

"Who?" He asked.

"Morrible. The prisoner said we were taking the magic of Oz for ourselves. Madam Morrible is the only one I've heard say that before. When we were at Shiz. She knew Elphaba and Glinda were growing their powers to surpass her own. Somehow, Mice got to her and she convinced them that Elphaba was harming Oz." Fiyero said, hand gripped on the hilt of his sword.

Morrible had been a thorn in their side for so long and now she even went as far as trying against their lives.

Fiyero believed she was done when her magic was taken away but it seemed she still planned to fight.

A shatter broke him out of his thoughts.

A glass lay shattered by the far wall.

"I should have listened to my instincts. I should have gotten rid of her when I had the chance. She reached too high for her own good and now she dares use others against my daughter. I want her dealt with. Now." Oscar said.

Fiyero sighed.

"Elphaba will choose what to do with her. We will tell her when the ball is over."

"I want a new report about the faction she has built. I want to know everything. Who is a part of their ranks and who conspires against their Queen." Oscar said.

Morrible would not be let go again. Her delusions of grandeur would be her own downfall.

Chuffrey POV

The ball raged on but the unease inside him did not cease.

Fiyero and the former King were nowhere to be seen. Something was happening.

Chuffrey felt a tap on his shoulder.

"Ser Chuffrey. Captain Fiyero requests your presence in the training yard." A gaurd says.

Every nerve in his body turned to high alert. Chuffrey leaned down and placed a kiss on Glinda's head.

"I will be back shortly, my love. Fiyero wants me for a report briefing." He said with a smile.

"Don't be too long. I would like one last dance before we go home." Glinda said, a sleepy smile on her face.

The twins had began to drain her more often and she needed more rest.

Chuffrey made his way out to the training yard. His sword felt heavier at his side than ever before.

Gaurds were lined on every side of the yard. Fiyero stood at the end with Brrr.

"Chuffrey." Fiyero said once he saw him.

He approached with caution. The guards all looked ready for anything at the moment.

"What has happened?" Chuffrey asks.

"We have the information we need. You must collect your debt." Brrr said as he stepped aside.

Anger coursed through him. The parasite who tried to harm Glinda and their babies knelt before him.

He looked worse for wear. No doubt Fiyero let out some of his anger on him.

"Thank you again for letting me take this justice. To you and the Queen." Chuffrey said, unsheathing his sword.

"Elphaba would not let this go unpunished. This is your right." Fiyero said.

Chuffrey took pride in his gentleness. He fought and became a knight because it was his duty. He preferred keeping his head in books. He never wanted for more.

Glinda was the one who opened his eyes to see that there was more to this world. She brought adventure into his life.

She showed him true love.

For that, Chuffrey would do whatever it took to protect his love. His children.

Fiyero and Brrr stood to the side as silence fell onto the training grounds.

The air bit at his fingers but his resolve burned.

"You chose this fate for yourself. You set foot into my home with the intention of taking my whole world from me. For that, I will have vengeance."

The sound of steel cutting through the air came and went. Blood dripped from his blade as the lifeless body laid at his feet.

No one would bring harm to his family again.
