Work Text:
This was most unexpected, for Rosemary, to say the least.
"Maryrose, you don't have to do this, really, I can braid my own hair." Rosemary said aloud, as she felt hands on her shoulders, sitting her down in front of the vanity. "I've helped you with your hair, it's no trouble."
"Oh, hush, dear, you should use your rest day to the fullest," Maryrose replied, her voice firm yet gentle. "Besides, I know that braiding your own hair can be so annoying, believe me."
"I do appreciate it, Maryrose, truly." Rosemary smiled, feeling her face turn pink, her hands wringing together in her lap, as she soon settled in her chair.
"Much obliged." Maryrose then moved her hands slowly through Rosemary's hair, creating the start of a braid. "It's the least I can do for you, my dear."
Rosemary hummed an affirming noise, and she closed her eyes. Feeling her Shadow's elegant and soft fingers moving through her hair was almost relaxing.
Maryrose parted Rosemary's hair into three sections, the left over the middle, and one right also on the middle, repeating the step three more times before securing the end with her favorite bow.
"All right, you can open your eyes now." Maryrose patted Rosemary's shoulder, soft but firm.
Rosemary slowly opened her eyes, standing up and she turned around to see her long hair now in a lovely braid, in the mirror. There was not a hair out of place.
"There! All dressed up and ready to go!" Maryrose declared.
"Wow, thank you! You did an amazing job." Rosemary replied as she twirled around, trying to get a look from all sides. "I really mean it, thank you."
She then turned, grasped onto Maryrose's hand, and kissed it gently.
Maryrose smiled, almost wistfully. "Like I said, Rosemary, it was the least I can do."
