Beatrice felt her blood boil.
"Sorry, did you just come to MY palace to insult me?"
"Technically it belongs to the British people. You just live here."
The two stared at each other for a long moment. Beatrice was used to people walking on eggshells around her, measuring every word. Davina Chen clearly hadn't received the memo.
And part of Beatrice—the part she tried to keep hidden under layers of royal etiquette—found that incredibly exciting.

Kit stands beside her, grins. “You're a knight, Jade.” Mischief sparkling– “Or should I say Sir Claymore?”
“I'm your knight,” Jade replies. “Your Highness.” And then, remembering Kit's wince– “Or should that be Sir Tanthalos?”
