"You cheated!" He says, wrongly.

Summary:

"YOU!" The guy screams, pointing at Dream so hard the rest of the class turns to look at him, eyes wide. "YOU CHEATED IN MCC!"

Dream blinks, staring at him for a long moment. He hasn't been on the school MCC team in years, he dropped it after one of the team coaches leaked his address, so he also has no idea what this guy is talking about, nor who he is exactly. There's a funny itch at the back of his brain, though, as though he can almost grasp the dude's name, but it's evading him. "I'm- I'm sorry, do we know each other…?"

"We do now!" The guy snarls, stalking toward him. "You should know me, I've just discovered your little secret you cheating liar."

--- --- ---

An idiot who ignores evidence to the contrary of his unrealistic idea starts silly drama for no reason at all.

Work Text:

The day was going great until Dream's fifth period Biology class.

Biology is Dream's least favorite class, not because he has anything particularly against biology, but because he doesn't really care about anything they've been learning lately. It's all cells and dna replication, not nearly as fun as their zoology unit earlier in the semester, which was easier to care about, partially because animals were involved and Dream likes animals, especially the ferret his teacher brought in one afternoon for them to observe.

Instead he's stuck with cells, which are fundamentally boring, but unfortunately for him, things are about to get exciting in the worst way imaginable.

Their teacher is halfway through explaining gene crossover events when there's a massive crash in the hallway outside that snaps Dream's brain out ofthe zoned-out 'thinking about George and not paying attention' mode and back to the present, just in time to see the door at the front of the classroom burst open so hard it slams into the wall and some guy Dream's never seen before in his entire life storms inside.

The teacher stares at him, looking as baffled as Dream feels. "Can I he-"

"I think his name is Hamm," Coldi whispers from two desks over, and the guy shoots him a withering glare in response.

"What exactly do you think I did?" Dream asks, glancing back at 'Hamm' in confusion. "Uh… I've never cheated at MCC-"

"Then how do you explain this," Hamm growls, stalking past Dream to the front of the room and grasping through the cords of the classroom computer to find one that'll connect to his phone. The teacher stands behind him, clearly stunned into silence by this behavior.

The class watches with confusion as Hamm plugs in the phone and opens a video onto the projector at the front of the room, hitting play immediately.

It's a video of Dream playing MCC in freshman year. He jumps across the set of parkour warriors, then falls, before it repeats a couple of times, the video looping in front of them all.

"See?" Hamm says triumphantly, pointing to the projector screen. "Look at that!"

"What are we looking at?" Someone in the back of the class asks, and Hamm glares at them, reaching over to skip through the video frame by frame.

"Do you see this?" He asks, skipping to one of Dream's jumps. "His jump is irregularly timed."

"That kinda looks like nothing," Sapnap mutters.

Hamm ignores him. "If you're too stupid to realize it, he's using a macro steroid to jump when he hits the edge of a platform so he can complete a run without any mistakes."

As if on cue, the video shows Dream missing a jump and falling into the net beneath the course.

"How do you explain that?" Dream asks, gesturing at the video. "I wouldn't have fallen if I was using a macro steroid."

"CLEARLY you had some kind of toggle you could turn off the macro when you needed to fake a jump, so no one would catch you, but I've figured it out!" Hamm snaps, crossing his arms. "You, Dream, are a filthy cheater."

"That's not how steroids work," Sapnap grumbles.

Everyone ignores him.

"I spent literally all of 2020 training on the school's parkour warrior course," Dream responds, sighing in annoyance. "I'm going to be good at it, dude, that's what happens when you spend all your free time jumping on pillars."

"But then you lied about not cheating in a speedrun," Hamm declares, as though that proves anything at all. "Once a cheater, always a cheater."

The class pauses at that.

"I mean," A voice from the back speaks up. Dream and the rest of the room turn to look at Shadoune, who's crossed his arms and staring at the video. "He's got a point. Those jumps are pretty irregular."

Dream sighs.

"He literally trained people on that course," Sapnap points out, helpfully. "How the hell would he be able to do that if he was cheating the whole time?"

Hamm opens his mouth, then shuts his mouth, looking for all the world as though he hadn't expected anyone to point that out.

"Look," Dream sighs. "I didn't cheat in parkour warrior. If I did cheat, someone would've noticed. I was at the hight of my fame at that point, do you really think no one would've caught on six years ago?"

"Course he doesn't," Coldi snorts. "He's an egotistical jerk."

"Well I certainly couldn't do that, so clearly it's impossible," Hamm says, wrongly. "You just don't want to admit you're a lying, cheating, filthy-"

"Dude," Dream sighs again and cuts him off, already done with this nonsense. "You have one piece of evidence against me, even though I was training like hell that entire semester."

"He got doxxed during that event too," Sapnap points out. The class shuffles nervously.

Hamm glares at him. "Stop disproving all my points," He growls, crossing his arms. "You just don't wanna admit your best friend is an evil fucking monster who lies and cheats and does everything in his power to take away things from people who work hard and actually deserve it, like me."

Dream shakes his head. "I can't even get kicked out of MCC, I left of my own volition after one of the organizers doxxed me." He sighs again, then turns back to stare at Shadoune, who has the grace to at least pretend to look remorseful. "And what exactly do you want from this?" Dream asks. "For me to apologize for something I didn't do."

"Um, well, er, you see," Shadoune mumbles, flushing bright red at that.

"And here I thought you were a viable love interest," Sapnap bemoans. Shadoune looks absolutely devastated at Sapnap merely suggesting that he doesn't return his affections.

"Mr. Samichz," The teacher sighs, stepping forward. "If you're quite finished with your, er, presentation, could you please leave? I have a class to teach."

"Not until he gets what's coming for him," Hamm growls, pointing at Dream. "He should be expelled for what he's-"

"Another word, and it's detention for you," The teacher responds, clearly fed up at this point. She gently pushes him out of the way and hands his phone back, turning the lecture slides back on. "Now shoo, I have a class to teach."

Hamm glares at her with rage in his eyes and stalks toward the door, only pausing once to hiss a furious. "This isn't over, cheater." at Dream.

The effect is ruined by his voice cracking on the last word and half the class snickering at that.

Hamm stalks out of the room after that, attempting to slam the door, which bounces off the doorframe and opens again. Serpias gets up to close it, then walks over to give Sapnap a kiss on the cheek while maintaining direct eye contact with Shadoune, who currently has the demeanor of a wounded animal, before heading back to his seat.

Dream sighs. This is probably gonna be all over the school tomorrow. The worst part, though, is that he still has to finish the rest of fifth period before he can head to sixth period and see his boyfriend, George, who will not be unreasonable about this, fortunately.

Just another day at Internet Celebrity High School.
