Work Text:
Some people would consider this an outright stupid idea. Yes, it’s cute with those videos of zoo animals walking outside their enclosure and seeing all the other animals. But there is a very good reason why those videos do not have a tiger, cub or not in them!
But this is Yuji, precious, never hurt a fly, Yuji. The little cub looks so happy in his harness. And the baby carrier was just too cute to resist!
Plus, it was probably best for Yuji to get close to someone other than Gojo. The workers would be absolutely devastated to have their sweetheart baby-boy become a Gojo V2.
So here the were carting an adorable and very excited Tiger cub around the zoo. Yuji is as happy as he could be, bobbing his head as he is strolled around.
Something seems to draw Yuji’s attention. A new noise Yuji has never heard before. It was similar to Gojo’s roars. It’s a haunting bell ring to Yuji, something that calls him to get closer.
Yuji is drawn in by the low howling noise. The cub eagerly leaps out of his carrier and runs (while tripping now and then in pure excitement) and heads right towards the wolf enclosure. His stubby front paws pulling him up the concrete wall so his small nose can press right on the stone fence that looked over the wolf enclosure. One of the workers makes the incredibly stupid decision to bring Yuji on the very top of the stone fence.
This seems to draw the wolves’ attention. And wolves are standoffish noble creatures. But that certainly doesn’t seem the case, what with their tails happily wagging away.
Suddenly Yuji almost freezes as he spots something very interesting. Another kid like him, all alone slinking in the shadows. A scruffy black pup with striking green eyes.
Without warning Yuji wiggles, out of one of the caretaker’s arms and leaps into the enclosure. As the workers are screaming, Yuji easily falls into a tree and without even hesitating rushes down the tree and sprints towards his new friend.
Yuji is all excited to play. The young tiger cub meowling and playfully moving his paws towards the wolf pup as he raced circles around the rather annoyed looking pup.
Then without warning the wolf pup leaps on top of Yuji.
The workers rush over, worried, no, terrified!

Megumi was just trying to have a normal day, it was going so well too. Seems the zoo was closed for the day as there were no humans running amuck looking over him. So truly Megumi shouldn’t have to worry about anything right.
Well it seems the other wolves would like to disagree! Something has them all excited. Megumi may still be a pup, but he will be the alpha of this pack, so he should restrain his pack. But Megumi just couldn’t be bothered.
Suddenly there was some loud noises coming from above, it seems there were some humans here today, and they were being very loud about something. Then the sound of something falling and running right towards him. Megumi only really raised his head as a familiar and rather annoying scent entered his nose.
‘Gojo’!
That snow leopard who claims to be Megumi’s guardian (Megumi never remembers needing anyone to look after him). Ever since Megumi arrived at this zoo, that damn snow leopard has made a habit of coming over and annoying him. Dropping in overly sweet and obnoxiously bright and colorful snacks, that Megumi never plans on eating. Popping in and loudly talking at Megumi. Trying to make Megumi leave his new home. The snow leopard was a menace. But it seems Gojo has stopped coming over as of late. And now Megumi knows why!
A fluffy small cat-like creature is eagerly looking at Megumi. The scent of Gojo clings to the small fluff ball. “Hi there my name is Yuji what’s yours?” Megumi doesn’t answer hoping the fluff ball will just leave him alone.
Unfortunately, that only drives the pink cat to try harder to get Megumi’s attention. Trying every tactic, it’s little head can think of to get Megumi to play along. And it’s just as loud and chatty as that damn snow leopard!
Finally, Megumi decided the kitten Yuji needed to learn his place. With no warning Megumi pins down the little thing.
Only then does Megumi smell Yuji’s own scent. It was warm and sweet, like spring. It reminded Megumi of his mom and his sister. Sure, Megumi’s childhood was rough, but his mom and his sister were the only saving graces in his young life.
His mom died when he was young, honestly, he only remembers being fed by her and her gentle smell rocked into sleep. But after his mother’s passing his dad was blatant no show, only causing havoc for Megumi and his sister. Then his sister got sick. To the point she is a permanent resident to the zoo’s doctor. Leaving a young Megumi all alone in the world. Sometimes Megumi wishes to be with his family, that small patch of sun-life back in his life. And somehow, by some miracle it has happened.
For a while Megumi doesn’t even realize that he is rubbing his head against the tuff of Yuji’s neck. When he does get drawn back to reality, Megumi can’t help but gently nibble on one of Yuji’s ears. Maybe if he rubs hard enough he can erase Gojo’s obnoxious scent of Yuji.
This seems to bring much joy to Yuji. Who is happily nuzzling up to Megumi.

The caretakers hunched over, trying to catch their breaths, can only stare in disbelief as their usually sullen wolf club actively bonding with another creature. At least Yuji seems perfectly content
