Summary
They keep dancing around each other, exchanging barbs, acting like nothing has changed, like they're still one misstep away from tearing each others throats out. Two predators circling each other, eyeing the other to make sure they wouldn't miss any openings, any weak spots.
But Dabi knows better, can see the way Hawks looks at him now; like he wants to eat him alive, or rather like he wants Dabi to consume him and make sure nothing is left. Turn him into something other than the HPSC's leashed pet bird, and he'd look so pretty with Dabi's collar around his throat instead. Something to mark the bird as owned, drag the leash out of his current owner's hands and pull it tight until the little traitor has no choice but to dance to Dabi's tune.
A nice little dream, but Dabi is not delusional enough to think it would ever come to pass.
