"Say," Briseis began, her eyes on Marie, who sat next to her at the kitchen table. "You know what we should do soon?"
Marie looked up, her eyes almost suspicious. "What?"
"No need to be scared of me." Briseis remarked in jest, shifting her chair so she could be closer to Marie. "Anyway, I have a plan, we should start add lilacs to our garden, and plant them when we get the chance."
Marie blinked, her curiosity peaked. "Lilacs? You mean the really smelly ones in spring? It's still winter, and it's freezing." She tugged the cardigan she wore closer to keep warm.
Briseis nodded, rubbing her arms, the sweater she wore keeping her comfortable. "Yeah, you're telling me, but think about it. If we start to plant it as soon as the snow melts, the lilacs and other flowers can actually bloom in mid to late springtime."
Marie crossed her arms, looking thoughtful for a moment, and then she smiled. "You know what, that's not a bad idea, I'll keep that in mind, just as long as we don't have to do anything in the cold just yet."
"Yup, it's a deal!" Briseis beamed, and then she wrapped her arms around Marie. "But for now, I'd rather stay here with you, all nice and cozy, any day of the week."
Marie laughed, her arms soon around her Briseis. "Aww, really, with little ol' me?"
"Yup!" Briseis answered cheerfully.
Marie couldn't help but smile.
