Chapter Text

It was supposed to be an usual day. For Kento, at least.

He had arrived at the school he had been working for three years. He drank his coffee, scanned his lecture notes just in case, went to the 11th grades and lectured them for two periods. Then 12th grades for four periods. Then lunch break. Then 10th grade. Kento was planning to treat himself after the school.

However, during the break, a fight broke in the hallways of second floor. Kento climbed the stairs quickly and followed the noise. Shit, they probably want me to handle this, as always. A sense of dread filled him as he pictured manager Gakuganji’s sour face.

“It’s Fushiguro from 9-A.” said Utahime as she held her cup close to herself, as if trying to keep her tea from spilling. “He is fighting Itadori.”

“Again?” Kento said with distaste. It’s third time this week. He sighed and went ahead to break the fight. It wasn’t so hard to get between and push them apart. They were only 15, after all.

“That’s enough.” he said firmly, he knew that his tone was effective. Both teenagers were looking at each other panting, fire in their eyes. But they didn’t make any move. Itadori was the first one to move back and take a deep breath. Fushiguro was still looking at the other with a strange anger.

Kento couldn’t understand. Yuji was loved by almost everyone in the school. He was a ray of sunshine. Even the teachers were endeared by him. Kento couldn’t imagine a reason for Fushiguro to strongly dislike him. The raven haired boy was usually quiet and reserved. He didn’t interact with anyone other than his sister, who was in 11th grade. But Kento didn’t think he was type of person to pick fights with anyone, especially Itadori. And it was surprising to see that Itadori was the only one he has been fighting.

Kento stared at him for a few seconds. He tried to undertsand him. What could be the reason for Fushiguro to be angry at Itadori? Was he jealous?

Kento took his eyes off of him and turned to the students watching. “Everyone, to the classes.” he said. He watched them comply. Then he turned to Fushiguro and Itadori. “You two, you are coming with me.”

He took them to the ‘Discipline Room’. It was an office where nobody was really using. Kento had them sit on the chairs as he got behind the table and sat across them. He looked at their angsty faces. He texted Utahime to send Tsumiki Fushiguro to the office. He then looked at them. Itadori was looking at him with slightly ashamed expression, Fushiguro was frowning. Kento sighed and rubbed the bridge of his nose.

“I am not going to lecture you about how fighting is bad and how violence is not a way to solve things.” he started. “You are both old enough to know that.”

The students didn’t reply, Itadori looked down. Kento wasn’t expecting a reply anyway. He stopped staring at them as the door was knocked. “Come in.” he called out. Tsumiki walked in. “Have a seat.” said Kento.

She sat beside Megumi and looked at Kento with an apologetic face. “Nanami-san-” she started but Kento lifted his hand cut her off gently. He knew she was about the apologize behalf of her brother. He didn’t want to hear that.

“If it was the first time, I would let you go with a lecture. If it was the second time, I would give you an official warning. But it happened more often than I would like.” said Kento firmly. “I am gonna have to call your parents here.”

“No!” Megumi burst the word out. Tsumiki tried to hush him immediately. At the same moment Yuji furrowed her brows. “He is the one who starts the fights! I didn’t even do anything! Why am I-”

“Enough.” said Kento as Megumi mumbles; “He wouldn’t let me live this down.” to his sister. But he hushed and looked at Kento nervously. “The school didn’t have time to have your parents’ contact information, so please call them yourselves and tell them to come here.”

Yuji sighed and took his phone out. Tsukimi also took her phone out and walked out of the office to make a proper call. After the short call with hushed words, Yuji hung up and nodded at Kento. Megumi was looking down at his lap.

Kento knew Yuji wasn’t really at fault. He knew that his parent would get that too. But it was a fight and he wouldn’t take an explicit side. He just hoped Megumi’s parent would understand that and wouldn’t try to blame Yuji.

Tsumiki entered the office. “He is on his way.” she said, trying to avoid Kento’s gaze. “It will take a little while though, he is kinda far.”

“It’s alright, we will wait.” said Nanami. “Thank you, you can go back to your class.” Tsumiki nodded and exited the office. Megumi was still looking at his lap and Yuji was staring out of the window. They waited in silence. Kento was grateful that he had no class in the last period.

After a while, the door was knocked and an old man opened it. Kento stood up. The man approached to table. “Wasuke Itadori. I am Yuji’s grandfather. His father is working.” he said. Kento shook his hand.

“Understood. Thank you for coming. Let's wait for Fushiguro’s parent too.” he said. Wasuke sat beside Yuji as he threw a questioning stare at Megumi. They sat in silence.

A while later, Kento heard rushed steps in the hallway. Then they stopped in front of the door for a moment, as if the owner of feet getting themselves together. Kento said “Come in.” as he heard the knock after a moment.

The door opened and with his white hair, those deep blue eyes and a noticable existence; there stood Satoru Gojo.

The person Kento dated in high school.
