The sound of a train slowly stopping could be heard coming to a stop, causing Lincoln to wake up from his slumber. For the first couple of seconds, he wondered why he was on a train before remembering everything that transpired. That horrible salesman is sending him into the Multiverse just because of a bit of money... Something he will make sure not to do ever again if he gets out of this situation.
"Well, you're finally awake, sleeping beauty. You must have been really tired."said Sonia, getting the attention of Lincoln.
"Sorry... I was just getting some rest."said Lincoln as he was wiping his eyes.
"Oh, it's no problem. Based on the fact that you appear to have been walking for hours, it's only natural you were sleepy."said Sonia, understanding the situation.
She didn't motions for Lincoln to follow her out of the train. Lincoln quickly followed her by getting up and following her out of the train and heading into the train station. The two quickly left the loading Bay and made it to the front of the train station.
When Lincoln next to the train station he was amazed by what he saw as they looked exactly like the English countryside his father described to him when he was talking about his study trip abroad all those years ago while he was dating his mother.
"Wow, the air is so fresh."Lincoln couldn't help but comment.
"Well, no fossil fuels are allowed here in Galar, only renewable energy. That's probably why the air is so clean."pointed out Sonia.
Lincoln was sure his more environmental sisters like Lana would love to meet this place, especially out the thought of meeting animals she's never met before in the form of Pokemon. He quickly shook away these thoughts as he didn't want to be too sad about being so far away from his family. He needed to keep his mind in the game, so to speak.
"So, where do we meet your grandmother?"Lincoln inquired, wanting to meet Professor Magnolia as soon as possible.
Sonia then looked at the time on her watch.
"Well, since my grandmother sticks to her schedule as much as possible, she should be having afternoon tea at the Pokemon lab."said Sonia before motioning for Lincoln to follow her.
Lincoln didn't know where the pokémon lab was, so it was best for him to follow Sonia. The two of them walk through the streets of Wedgehurst, all while Lincoln was wondering what his next move is going to be.
He knew he had to compete in the local Pokemon League, but how exactly was he supposed to do that? He had no idea how to enter... Much less if you have the qualifications. He hopes Professor Magnolia will give him some answers.
A couple of minutes later, the two of them arrived in front of a large purple building with a red Pokeball logo on the front. Sonia quickly headed inside, and Lincoln followed her soon after.
Not too far away from the front door was a dining table, and sitting next to that dining table was an older woman who looked a little bit like Sonia. She was wearing a yellow sundress covered by a white lab coat. She had glasses over her eyes and her gray hair and a bun. She also appeared to be holding what appeared to be a unique walking stick shaped like some kind of Pokemon.
Lincoln theorized that this was Professor Magnolia, Sonia's grandmother.
"Grandma, I'm back. And I brought company."said Sonia, getting the attention of Professor Magnolia.
"Oh, who is this young man?"inquired Professor Magnolia she and put her teacup down.
"Um, hello... Ma'am. My name is Lincoln, and it was hoping you couldn't help me answer the local Galar Region League competition."Lincoln quickly said, deciding to get straight to the point.
This caught Professor Magnolia off guard...
"Well,well, well... You get straight to the point. That's something most young people don't have nowadays and I appreciate it.. I, for one, am not in any mood for small talk unless it's necessary."said Professor Magnolia while looking Lincoln up and down.
"You don't look like a pokémon trainer. What Pokemon do you have?"inquired Professor Magnolia with interest.
Lincoln immediately pulled out his two pokeballs and called out Golett and Frillish from their pokeballs. Both Ghost types looked at Professor Magnolia, who was looking at them as well with King.
"A Golett with the iron fist ability and a male Frillish with the curse body ability. I must say, these are two amazing Pokemon. How long have you had them?"inquired Professor Magnolia to Lincoln.
"Um... I just caught them today. I did that method where I threw my Pokeball at their backs, and somehow, I managed to capture both of them."quickly answered Lincoln, surprising Professor Magnolia.
"My word. Golett and Frillish are considered powerful Pokemon. I'm amazed someone so inexperienced as you manage to capture both of them. Something tells me you have the luck of Arceus on your side."said Professor Magnolia, making Lincoln wonder who Arceus was.
He was about to ask, but he quickly decided against it... The last thing he needs to draw too much attention to himself.
"Well, it appears you have everything in order. You have at least two pokémon, meaning you can challenge at least the first gym. Luckily for you, I have the power to endorse someone as a known member of the Pokemon League. The question now is if you are worthy of it."said Professor Magnolia while looking over Lincoln's two Pokemon.
"If you think I'm going to abuse them, that's the last thing I want. I want them to be my best friends... Since I'm going to need them to have my back in the long run. The only way that's possible is that we have a friendship that is unbreakable."pointed out Lincoln, who was technically telling the truth.
These Pokemon have to accompany him to the other worlds he was going to. The only way he was going to have their loyalty is to treat them right and build up a friendship that lasts a lifetime.
"Well, these Pokemon appear to trust you."pointed out Professor Magnolia while inspecting pokémon.
"It's clear there's some friendship built up despite the fact you just met. Perhaps you have an innate talent as a Pokemon trainer. As a Pokemon professor, it is my duty to help that talent prosper. Okay, let me sign some forms, and you will officially be able to participate in the gym challenge."said Professor Magnolia before walking over to a nearby desk to pull out some forms.
"So, how does this gym challenge work? I'm not from here, so I need a quick summary of what I'm supposed to do."said Lincoln, causing Sonia to speak up.
"Well, after my grandmother gave you the endorsement, you have to go all the way to Monostoke City for the gym challenge ceremony. Once you get there, you have to get your uniform and number. After that, you have to challenge eight powerful pokémon trainers known as gym Leaders throughout Galar. By defeating them in a pokémon battle, he or she will award you with a gym badge as proof of your victory over them. Collect 8 gym leader badges, and you can participate in the gym challenge final tournament. In the final round, pokémon trainers who have also been at least eight gym leaders will battle it out until only one is left. Once only one is left, he or she will get the chance to challenge the champion of the Galar Pokemon League to a series 6 on 6 Pokemon battle. If you manage to win, you become the new champion."said Sonia, summarizing everything Lincoln needed to know.
"Um, you wouldn't happen to know a little bit about the champion, would you?"inquired Lincoln, hoping to get information on his final foe.
"Leon is actually my childhood friend. His partner pokémon is called a Charizard, and it's a fire and flying type. Now be careful when it becomes a gigantamax pokémon. Charizard's g-max wildfire is no joke! It's so strong, in fact, that Leon has never lost the Pokemon battle before."said Sonia, surprising Lincoln.
"Wait... He's never lost a single battle?"Lincoln asked nervously.
"Yup. As far as I'm aware, Charizard has never been defeated."Sonia pointed out without hesitation.
Lincoln then began sweating nervously while swallowing a large lump down his throat. How in the world was he supposed to defeat someone who's never been defeated? He knew immediately that if he wanted any hope of defeating Leon, he needed to train his Pokemon and gather at least four more in order to have a powerful team of pokémon strong enough to take on Leon and his six pokémon!
Golett would eventually evolve into a Golurk, and Frillish would eventually evolve into a Jellicent. Lincoln knew he would need more if he would ever have a chance of defeating this Leon character and his Charizard.
"Okay.. I filled out the endorsement paper."said Professor Magnolia, snapping Lincoln out of his trance as he looked over to see her approaching him.
"Make sure you don't lose these since they're irreplaceable."said Professor Magnolia before handing Link in the endorsement papers.
"Thank you."said Lincoln before looking over his body, wondering where he was going to put these important papers.
"Hmm... Sonia. Can you take this boy to the clothing store and get him some more appropriate clothes. Hopefully, one's more sturdy for the journey he's going to go on."calmly instructed Professor Magnolia to her granddaughter.
She then hands Sonia what appears to be some kind of debit card.
"Of course. It would be my pleasure."said Sonia before motioning for Lincoln to follow her.
Lincoln wasn't sure if he wanted new clothes before looking himself over and realizing he needed a new set of clothes. His clothes were not built for long distances.. so with much reluctance, he recalled Golett and Frillish back to their pokeballs and followed Sonia out of the pokémon lab.
The two of them walked for about 10 to 20 minutes before arriving at what appeared to be a clothing store. Once they got inside, Sonia immediately began choosing new clothes for Lincoln without asking him what he wanted.
About 10 minutes later, she had come back with new clothes and motion for Lincoln to go into the changing room to change into these new clothes. Seeing as he had no choice in the matter, Lincoln reluctantly headed into the changing room and changed into new clothes.
Lincoln was now wearing an orange long sleeve shirt with the sleeves reaching his elbow areas. Instead of his usual blue jeans, Lincoln was not wearing navy blue pants that looked like they were extremely sturdy. His White Sox will replace with black long socks that reached up to his ankles. The only thing that stayed the same was his shoes in the form of white sneakers.
"Not bad..."said Lincoln as he slipped on an orange hoodie over his body.
"I figured you would need something to help you stay warm in the wild area.. I'm just letting you know now, but the wild areas environment changes every day. One day, it could be sunny in the next day it could be snowing. We're still not sure why the weather in that place is so unstable."said Sonia from outside the changing room.
Liking his new outfit, Lincoln went outside the changing room to show Sonia his new look.
"Now you look like you're ready for a journey!"said Sonia before revealing she picked out several more of the same outfit.
"I figure you're someone with a consistent look."said Sonia with a knowing smile on her face.
"Oh, you have no idea."said Lincoln as he took the outfits.
Sonia then hands him a navy blue duffel bag that he can put over his back.. liking what he's seeing, Lincoln immediately accepted a gift and placed it on his back.
After paying for the items at the front desk, Sonia brought Lincoln back to the Pokemon research lab. There, they saw that Professor Magnolia had prepared several items for Lincoln.
The items included some kind of smartphone with a red phone case shaped like lightning. The next item appeared to be several pokeballs ready for new pokémon to capture. The last items appeared to be some kind of white arm band.
"These are for you."said Professor Magnolia before motioning for Lincoln to grab the items.
"The first item is a Rotom phone. This phone contains a pokémon called rotom. It will help you navigate through Galar. It also has the Pokedex app downloaded. All you have to do is point this phone in front of a pokémon, and it will automatically identify known information of that Pokemon. It should be very helpful and you deciding your future members of your Pokemon team."pointed out Professor Magnolia.
Lincoln looked the phone over, and sure enough, they appeared to have some kind of creature inside as it immediately began floating in the air before diving into his front pocket. With a smile on his face from the funny experience, Lincoln immediately put the pokeballs he had been given on his belt so that he would be ready to capture new pokémon for his team.
"Finally, I will be giving you a dynamax band. With this band that has a wishing Star inside of it, you now have the power to dynamax your pokémon in a power spot. Keep in mind that your pokémon will only take on gigantic form for three moves. Afterwards, they will return to normal size. I suggest you remember this detail because every gym leader you face minus one specializes in dynamax Pokemon battles."pointed out Professor Magnolia.
"I'll keep that in mind!"said Lincoln seriously.
"Good! Now since you will need money to take care of yourself as well as your Pokemon. I prepared a prepaid debit card filled with a large amount of poke dollars for your expenses. Please do not spend lavishly and only spend on the essentials."said Professor Magnolia before handing Lincoln the debit card.
Lincoln immediately accepted the debit card and looked it over. He couldn't help but wonder how much money was in here, but she had a point. He couldn't spend recklessly and risk not having money for essentials like food and water, especially for his Pokemon.
"Do I need anything else?"inquired Lincoln before Sonya handed him a sleeping bag and would appeared to be some cooking equipment.
"Things you will need for the Great outdoors."said Sonia with a smile on her face.
Lincoln smiled back as he put the sleeping bag in cooking utensils inside of his duffel bag.
"Well... I suggest you get going. The gym challenge ceremony is in 3 days. If you're even a minute late, you'll have to wait until next year to participate in the Gym Challenge."pointed out Sonia, pointing at her watch when she said that.
This immediately made Lincoln freak out!
"Really?! Well, I better get running."said Lincoln before leaving the pokémon research lab as fast as his legs could take him.
Miss made Sonya and Professor Magnolia smile as they watched the new trainer get ready for his journey out in the greater world. Lincoln on the other hand quickly went to the train station and tried to buy a ticket for Monostoke City, only to be informed that train travel was free in Galar as all expenses for the employees are paid by the Pokemon League.
Satisfied with this information, Lincoln immediately went to the first train that would take him to Monostoke City train station so that he could participate in the gym challenge. With Golett and Frillish by his side, Lincoln was sure he would have what it takes to take on the gym challenge and hopefully one day take on the undefeated champion in the form of Leon!
As he got onto his assigned seat, Lincoln looked at his dynamax band and was honestly excited at the idea of being able to use gigantic Pokemon! He grew up watching movies like Godzilla and King Kong... So it was only natural for him to be excited about the idea of using Kaiju size Pokemon, even if it was only temporarily!
"My main focus is getting home to my friends and family, but there's no rule against me having a little fun along the way."said Lincoln with confidence as the train began moving.
"Next stop, Monostoke City!"said Lincoln with confidence, knowing that his journey had officially started!
Now he just had to be ready for whatever the Pokemon world threw at him!
