Chapter 1: A memorial

Chapter Text

On the main desk in the Hall of Governance and Instruction rested an unusual memorial. The handwriting was one that the monarch had read countless times, he knew its quirks, its characteristic curves, and could even predict the words his councilor would typically use to begin his reports.

Jeno opened the memorial and began to read.

“Your Majesty, your subject and councilor hereby submits, along with this memorial, a first version of the project you have entrusted to us. The events were compiled according to the records stored in the palace archives and were also reviewed by the tutor of our Crown Prince. I look forward to your observations on whether you deem it appropriate to include or exclude any event, and I also await your proposals for the appointment of the officials who will continue with this project.”

With a smile that held a hint of nostalgia, the King reviewed the document attached to that memorial.
