Work Text:
His happiness meant more to Michael than he would've thought. All that time, being afraid of the one inside the cage. Years upon years had gone by, stuck in the same form, time not moving, nothing changing.
He would do whatever he can to make amends to Adam for being dragged into it. Having that purpose felt as if something was restored to him, and he would do anything Adam would like to do in this world. Whatever comfort and need he had, Michael would give him whatever it is.
"After all that time, I think you make me want to live again," Michael said to him.
Adam was eating a burger when Michael had said this, and glanced up at him, both curious and flustered by Michael's words.
"You..you can't just say that," Adam said, chewing on his food.
"Why not?" Michael gazed at him. "This is how I feel. How can I not say what I mean?"
Adam swallowed his food and drank a bit of the sprite he had also bought. "It's…embarrassing."
"No one can hear me," Michael said. "Unless you want them too."
Adam shook his head, "No, no…just me, just us."
"Just us," Michael repeated softly.
