• Ehem, it's been three years since Double Black had ended their partnership and disappeared from the public eye. Since then, there appeared a lot of skating fans who don't know them or only heard about them vaguely. So, here's a thread for all those, who isn't up-to-date with the topic
• Let's start with the basics: who even are the Double Black? Double Black are the kings of figure skating. It's a name, given by fans to the figure skating pair of Osamu Dazai and Nakahara Chuuya — two skaters that don't have and won't ever have any equals
• They'd skated together for only three seasons, but managed to earn a phenomenal amount of prizes and set a ton of Olympic records. Thrice the national champions of Japan, twice the Grand Prix winners, Olympic champions of the Junior and Senior competitions, the winners of the Four Continents Championship, and thrice the world champions to top it all off!
• They've never once left the first spot in ISU’s World Standings for Pair Skating for as long as their shared career lasted!
• Throughout their entire career, they've only failed to claim one of the top three spots once! Unbelievable! And the funniest thing is, it was due to them having an argument before the competition. It was during the japanese Nationals, and they went there after winning at the Junior-level competition, but placed 5th due to having started to bicker about who had won in the game at an arcade they went to the day before. Bro if only I had an ounce of their talent…
• Now let's take it from the top, but slower and with more detail. It all started when Osamu Dazai, one of the most talented figure skaters under the care of the legendary coach Ogai Mori (and by the way, he's also his stepson), had formed a duet with Chuuya Nakahara after a series of failures on national championships for two years in a row. It was exactly during that time that Chuuya had been a hidden gem, and he got noticed by coach Mori and — despite being a boy from a prospectless rink — got invited to join the best skating rink in all of Japan.
• By the way, their relationship had been super rocky at the beginning. They've been skating like they'd been made to fit one another like a glove, but constantly argued and bickered.
• Admittedly, overtime they'd practically begun to morph into one single creature. I remember someone had even said that they're kind of like a single soul split between two bodies, and that really was true.
• After having won the National Junior Championships during their first season, as well as the World Junior Championships and the Junior Olympics, they had gotten closer.
• It's like they'd shared the same wavelength: even Dazai himself had said during an interview once that nobody in this world could comprehend him the way Chuuya could. Of course, they still bickered, but it was with love, okay?
• During their second season, they'd simply explored into stardom. And, well, that's exactly when the speculations regarding the true nature of their relationship had begun. They'd been winning one competition after the other, and they'd been acting much more affectionate. Hell, if you watch their interviews from back then, you'd be easily convinced they were dating!
• Aside from their professional accomplishments that season — which was their first Senior-level one (and marked their wins at the Senior-level National Championships, the Grand Prix, theWorld Championships, and the Four Continents Championships) — this period had also been a true paradise for the shippers.
• Another public appearance — another sort of gay haven. It was either the programes with an unholy level of tenderness and boldness (link below), or some super questionable stares. Outside of the rink, they were getting spotted in karaoke, in cafes, sleeping on each other’s shoulder during flights, or Dazai had even suggested Chuuya ends his figure skating career to become his personal maid ON LIVE TV

• But that wasn’t the most memorable thing to occur that season. According to certain rumors, at the Four Continents Championship, Chuuya had been asked out by a Korean skater, Park Sung-Hoon (which, for your information, got recently confirmed in an interview by Park Sung-Hoon himself). But the most interesting bit starts when you look at the pictures of Dazai, taken that same day when Chuuya and him were leaving the place the competition was being held at. He didn’t look like his usual self. Angry stare, unpleased expression, and most importantly – instead of his usual “me and Chuuya are joined at the hip” attitude, he seemingly kept his distance.
• Let’s also take into consideration how, according to the fan testimonies, they weren’t arguing, and later, when they got to the hotel they were saying at, he even tried acting like everything’s in order. Coincidence? Or did someone just get jealous?
• By the way, Chuuya ended up rejecting Park Sung-Hoon. After that, they’ve also scored a victory at the World Championships too, but it’s like something had changed. There’d been tons of discussions surrounding this, but, to be honest, nobody didn’t exactly get it right as to exactly what it was.
• But the second their third season together had started? Oh. My. Lord. That’s when it became obvious to literally everybody. Everytime they were spotted together, they looked like this world’s most infatuated people. There’d never been any official statements regarding this, but there’s just so much evidence that they had something going on…
• They were getting seen together EVEN MORE OFTEN, they were together NONSTOOP. Holy shit, every time they skated, it seemed like they were about to kiss right on the rink.
• Chuuya was often getting spotted wearing Dazai’s clothes, some anonimous sources claimed they’d seen the two of them together in a love hotel (although here nobody provided any proof, in the end), they were constantly keeping visual and tactile contact 
• But this ain’t the most interesting part. At the Olympics Gala, the fans had noticed hickeys on Chuuya’s neck! (Nakahara Chuuya/Osamu Dazai – Exhibition Programm – Black Blood. Seoul Winter Olympics Gala 2018) And the hickeys also were spotted on Dazai, but after the performance!!!
• Not only that, but Dazai had also received a date offer from the Japanese figure skater, Sasaki Nobuko, two months prior to that, but ended up rejecting her without a second of hesitation.
• And even that wasn’t all, just the tip of the iceberg. But this is the moment I must mention something else. Prior to their last competition of the season, the World Championships, Dazai had stated at an interview: “I don’t imagine figure skating without Chuuya. He’s my reason. My reason to keep going.”
• And this very clearly reflects another side of their career: a darker one. Dazai had repeatedly mentioned how the magnitude of success they’d had had brought a lot of tension upon the two of them, which was hard to withstand. And just overall, throughout his entire career Dazai had often fallen victim to the unrealistic crazy-high expectations.
• He didn’t stomach that… Well. To be precise, if it weren’t for the presence of Chuuya and the helping hand of the Double Black’s manager, Oda Sakunosuke, whom Dazai had both mentioned on quite a bit of occasions, we don’t know that Dazai would’ve been even able to last for three years like he did
• Factually speaking, the third years of their career had been bonkers for Dazai. Despite the obvious feelings that were floating in the air around Chuuya and him, each competition had only furthered the mental strain on him.
• It was noticable on much too many occasions that even back then he’d happily leave the rink behind. But it seems that is was thanks to Chuuya and Oda who’d been both keeping him there, that he didn’t shatter. 
• Oda was this sort of Dazai’s “protector”, as well as his very close friend. Double Black had often mentioned him with gratitude during interviews, laughing at some stories he was a part of
• But everything had changed on March 25Th, 2018. On the final day of the World Championships, after the finale of the competition itself, Oda Sakunosuke had met his demise. According to the investigation, an avid hater of Dazai and Chuuya, enraged by their victories, had wanted to blow them up in the car they were supposed to use to get back to the hotel, but accidentally blew their manager up instead.
• The police forces had investigated the case with much effort, and there’d never been any repeated attacks. The criminal was acting alone, without any accomplices.
• But it seems that that day, Dazai had at last broken down. It’s like he vanished. He cut out his ties to the figure skating world. For two years, we didn’t know a shred of information about him.
• From the interview statement of his rink, as well as the Japan Skating Federation, we know that he’d made a desicion to end his career as a skater. That’s it. Chuuya had never given official statements throughout all these years. As far as we know, they don’t talk nowadays.
• And while all of that was happening, for the entirety of the first year since the Double Black had fallen apart, Chuuya had had to face tons of press scrutiny. He mostly stayed away from the public eye. Despite that, the insiders had been reporting that there were attempts for him to form a duet with Michizo Tachihara, another skater in Mori’s care, but they ended up being fruitless.
• After that, Chuuya had spent two years in France. He was training under his personal instructor, Kouyou Ozaki, as well as Paul Verlaine – as ex-figure skating champion that specializes in converting ex-pair skaters into solo sportsmen.
• Dazai, as it was revealed last year, is now working as a coach. Rumor has it, he was battling depression and dealing with the consequances of the sport industry pressure during his absence. Nowadays, he’s a personal coach of the current national champions of Japan, pair skaters Ryunosuku Akutagawa and Atsushi Nakajima.
• He didn’t comment much on the events that occurred at that time, but stated that he’d never return to competing in his life. He said he’d realized that he can’t live without skating, but despises the pressure of the expectations, competitions, and worrying. He really loves working as a coach.
• As for Chuuya, he has plans to return to skating as a solo performer. That’s all we know so far.

My god, finally someone made a thread where they aren’t portraying Dazai as a horrible bitchass jerk. Yeah, he ain’t no saint, but literally nobody could make me hate him. He’s just a broken child. Mori literally raised him for “Olympic accomplishments”, and rumors have it that he constantly applied mental pressure on Dazai. You try to save your mental health at such an environment. I bet he feels motherfucking awful already – he literally snatched away the prime time of Chuuya’s career from him! I can only imagine how guilty he must be feeling. He practically worshiped the very ground Chuuya was walking on, but still did what he did. To be honest, the difference between the two of them was conspicuous even back in the interviews. Chuuya was glowing at the victories and was super happy, albeit while under pressure. Dazai althewhile was much more restrained, sad, and, it seems, was happier to see Chuuya smile than winning. Im willing to bet he’s dying from guilt he feels towards both Chuuya and Oda who had pretty much died in his place.

god do you ever touch grass? stop embarrassing yourself. the rules of the grand prix state that the return of one of the skaters into the competition is possible when they skip a season or several, as long as they’d been granted the participation through seeding by earning one of the victories in the season before their break. it is only allowed once throughout the career but our chuu has the full right to compete

hello yall mortal souls! the last time i dedicated a post to chuu and charles had been all the way back during the grand prix finale so heres a part two of my delulu analysis of the relationship of my french babygirls!

so, since my last post A FUCTON OF SHIT had transpired.

FIRSTELY albatross n chuuya had celebrated getting the top spots at tge grandprix together after the official awarding ceremony!!! they went together to drink at a bar near chuuya’s hotel, and after that (trusting the leaks from the hotel workers!!!) chuuya had flowers delivered to his doorstep. i wonder who it might have been~ also albatross had congratulated chuuya in his stories, saying that the next time he’d win for sure, to which chuuya had replied “you try that, birdman.” romance of the 21st century!!

after that the nationals in japan took place where chuuya had (obviously) become a champion! which means he’d be allowed into the world competitions this season, and then meet who? that’s right, charles!!!

it looks like they were very happy about that, because after that they were seem together super often!!! either chuuya was buying him a bike, or they were playing pool together, singing in karaoke. someone even seemingly saw them on a few restaurant dates together!!! (unfortunately, we have no proof, but nothing will dissuade me from believing it’s true!!!)

and it gets better. the flags had filmed a collaborational ad for the voice assistant Adam, and there chuuya and albatross were spotted MATCHING BRACELESFUEFFFE. if you hadnt believed they were dating before, now is the time!!!! especially when there are rumors they were spotted kissing!!!! ah how i wish to have seen it. and nobody’s even giving out any official statements~ chuuya, albatross, just confirm your relationship already:( i wanna start officially speculating as to when they’ll begin to skate as a pair alreadyyyy

Well well well my people, the figure skating section of the Olympics had officially drawn the curtain!!!! Chuuya impressed us all yet again!!! Just in these few days alone he managed to:

• earn a yet-another gold
• PERFORM THE QUAD AXeL FOR THE FIRST TIME EVER
• ESTABLISH A NEW DAMN OLYMPIC RECORD
• present a new costume (very similar to the No Longer Human costume from the 2016-2017 season)

The king had given us food for three seasons ahead!!!
