“No, that’s not — “ He sighs, growing frustrated, though Mike can tell it’s not aimed at him directly. “I — I lied to you.”
Mike bristles, finally letting go of Will’s shoulder. “What?”
“El was right when she said I was painting for someone I liked. But this is the only painting. I didn’t make another one.”
“I don’t…I don’t understand.”
He finally meets his gaze, eyes desperate. “El didn’t commission the painting, Mike.”
Or: After finding out Mike is marked for death by Vecna, he and Will return to the Wheelers' house to retrieve Mike's Walkman. Instead, they find the aftermath of the demo attack on Mike's family, as well as a certain painting that leads to secrets being revealed.
