Owen’s remorseful expression turned into a frown as he wiped at his own tears. He stood up, looking away from the man he’d just betrayed. “I see…”
“No!” Legundo jumped up too quickly, pausing to hold his aching head and facing Owen again, “No. I don’t think you see at all!”
The vampire refused to look at him through more than a side glance, “You don’t actually care about helping me. You just want a reason to sleep at night.”
