The sides didn’t really ‘get sick’. After all, they weren’t truly alive. But, sometimes there were things in Thomas’ life that affected them in a similar way. Thomas getting drunk left Logan aching until morning, and heartbreak definitely gave Roman a hard time. Hell, Thomas tried anxiety meds once and Virgil was barely conscious (the meds also didn’t help Thomas in the slightest, as Roman also took a hit).
The only one who hadn’t had to deal with any of that was Patton. After all, he was Thomas’ morality. There wasn’t anything Thomas could do like that to hurt Patton.
At least, that’s what everyone had assumed. But that was before waking up to find Thomas in the hospital and Patton nowhere to be found.
Virgil had immediately started spiraling, while the twins both decided to tear the mindscape apart trying to find him. Janus wanted to help look, but he had to be topside for Thomas. Which left Logan, who for once in his life wasn’t sure what to do.
Was he was sure of, though, was Patton’s room. Coincidentally, it was the only place the others hadn’t checked.
So Logan carefully pushed open the door, finding exactly what he’d thought he would.
“Patton? Are you alright?”
Patton gasped, rolling over in bed. His fever was bad enough that Logan could see it, and his eyes were dazed and unfocused.
“Lo…? ‘S that you…?” Patton mumbled, trying to push himself up and only managing to move a little. “S’mthin’s wrong…”
Logan’s face softened ever so slightly, and he sat down to run a hand through Patton’s sweaty hair.
“You’ll be alright dear, just try to rest. I’ll get the others and we can take care of you.”
He moved to stand up and Patton reached for him.
“No…Don’ go…I’don’ wanna be alone…”
He sighed, sitting back down.
“Alright, but I need to let someone know you’re alright.
“Call Vee…”
“Right, of course.”
Logan pulled Virgil in, snapping the other side out of his panic as the effects of Patton’s room sunk in.
“What…Logan?”
“I found Patton, he’s alright.”
Virgil relaxed, letting out a breath of relief.
“Wait…you mean Roman didn’t check in here? Seriously?”
“Would you mind getting some tea together? Janus can handle Thomas for today, but we have our hands full.”
Patton was delirious. That much was obvious by how much he was giggling. They’d moved him to the living area so everyone could better keep an eye on him (Remus couldn’t go in Patton’s room without feeling sick and Virgil couldn’t stay for very long) and Patton had tried to hug every single one of them at least four times. Logan had offered himself as the figurative sacrificial lamb and was being pinned by Patton in a death hug.
“Lo, I love youuu,” Patton murmured, kissing Logan’s cheek as he snuggled closer.
“I know, Patton, you’ve told me twenty-seven times in the last half hour,” Logan said calmly, patting Patton’s back.
“Wow, almost once a minute,” Virgil said, chuckling from his place on top of the bookshelf.
“I didn’t think it was possible for him to get any cuter,” Roman added. “And yet somehow it’s been done.”
Logan smiled, playing with Patton’s hair. Yeah, Pat was pretty cute.
