Officially, the incendiary attack on Senator Amidala's apartment is listed as a failed assassination attempt from an unknown provoker. With the Senator safe at the Senate Building, the attack had missed her completely.
Offically, the Senator's children were tragically lost in the blaze, their bodies burnt and blackened, dead before emergency responders could ever get to them, prompting a push for a future investment in improving senate-issued apartments with better security and fire escape routes.
