Ok, maybe Sanemi went to far.
Shinazugawa winced uncomfortably at the memory of a few weeks ago. Since then Giyuu didn't even look at him anymore, he even refused to answer Sanemi when Tomoika said that he wouldn't take part in the training camps.
At the moment Sanemi thought it was Tomiokas superiorty sense again, but right now he isn't so sure If that was ever really the case.
Honestly everything Sanemi thought he knew about Giyuu flipped upside down. What the fucking hell is going on?!
It all started this morning when Giyuu suddenly turned up on his estate. He was just cleaning up after training with the little shits in his group, when he noticed Giyuus presence behind him. "What are you doing here?", Sanemi just called out pretty bored and kinda annoyed already. He didn't even bother to fully turn around and went right back to cleaning up the wooden swords laying all around.
"Would you like to train with me?", came hesitantly from behind him. Sanemi paused, this was the first time since their last conversation, that Giyuu sought him out on his own. On one side he really didn't want to have to do anything with Tomoika at the moment, but....
It still was a chance to kick some ass. His trainies were just to weak and now he could finally bring Giyuu back to the ground and show him who's really superior here!
Sanemi gripped one of the wooden swords tighter in his right hand and spun fastly around without warning. Giyuu took a step back in suprise. "Well come on and lets fucking do this! Take a sword for yourself and well see if you're any better than my trainees."
Giyuu stood still for a moment, eyes just widening a fraction for the moment, but then he seemed to register what Sanemi sayed and grabbed a sword himself.
I really did it? He wants to train with me?, went trough Giyuus head while picking up his own wood sword. As soon as Tomioka turned around, he had to side step to the left quickly. Shinazugawa didn't seem to wait a second in attacking him
Sanemi rapidly went to his second attack, but Giyuu was fast. They went on, till both of them were sweaty and breathing heavy. It was then that Shinazugawa saw his oppertunity. A smile forming on his face, while springing into the air and going for it.
Giyuu saw it happen in slow motion. He saw the look in Shinazugawas wide eyes, saw the outcome of the strike. He had to choose fast, with the attack Sanemi choose he could bring Giyuu down to the ground. Giyuu didn't mind to loose, but Sanemi was aiming at his haroi and it would definitly rip in contact with his attack.
Sanemi was aiming at his left side of his haroi. Sabitos side.
Giyuu couldn't let this happen. There was only one other option, he had to block the attack with his arm somehow. He wouldn't be able to get his sword there fast enough or react with an attack on his own.
Hoping the consequenzes wouldn't be to prominent, he let his arm fall to the space where Sanemi was gonna stab trough his haroi. Sanemi registerd what would happen, smile falling of his face, eyes widening in shock. He tried to stop and redirect his charge but it was to late to fully stop it in hitting the water pillar.
The blade cought Giyuus forearm and even though it was only wood, it sliced right trough the first layers of his skin. Hissing, Giyuu dropt his sword and looked at his wound.
Sanemi just stood there a couple feet away, stunned. He knows Giyuu let it happen. "WHAT THE HELL WAS THAT? Are you trying to fucking loose your arm dipshit?! Show me that!", he screamed at this utter idiot who was still just looking at his injury. Sanemi stomped over, grabbed Giyus arm and looked at the wound himself. It wasn't to bad, they wouldn't have to go to Shinobu, Sanemi really didn't feel like getting a passive agressive lecture today.
Hand still around Giyuus arm, Sanemi turned around and dragged Giyuu with him into his home. When they reached Sanemis own room, he turned around to a wide eyed, stunned looking Giyuu. The wind pillar moved Tomioka infront of his futon and put pressure onto his shoulders till he sat down. Meanwhile Giyuu just let it all happen, still looking dazed up at Sanemi.
He looks kinda cute like this... HUH? Sanemi hastly turned around, almost stumbeling on his next steps to the bathroom where his first aid kit was. This was SO not the moment for these new unwanted thoughts, he told himself.
He returned to Giyuu with the first aid kit, kneeling down infront of him, while taking Tomiokas arm into his own hand and began treating the wound, meanwhile Giyuu could only stare in utter bewilderment. Why would Shinazugawa help him and why was Sanemi kind off nice to him right now. Sanemi risked a glance up at Giyuus face but went hastly back to work as he saw how Giyuu shamlessly stared at him. Why was Sanemi blushing?
Sanemi while treating the injury couldn't stop thinking how completly unfair it was, that Giyuu still managed to look so cute, while looking so dumb at Sanemis actions. Now he got also got to have a closer look at the muscular arm infront of him and my God those veins... , but there were still more pressing matters.
"Why did you do it?" grumbeld Sanemi. "I know you've put your arm there on purpose, so don't bullshit me i dare you." "Well, you would've ripped my haori and it's not like i've been injured to badly, i had worse before." Sanemi, now staring into Giyuus eyes, was slowly loosing his cool again. "You could have just bought a new one and yeah you coudn't have died but this" Sanemi held his arm up, shaking it emphatically "is also as sure as hell not nothing!". Sanemi dropped the arm and stood up from his place infront of Giyuu and sat down beside him on the futon, still waiting for a real explanation.
Giyuu sighed, playing with his hands in his lap. "I had a best friend, his name was Sabito. We trained together under Urokodaki and he was everything i had, he was my family, but he died in the final selection, saving everyone but himself, me included. The left part of my haori that you would have ripped was his, I just- I couldn't have let that happend, it's the only thing I have left from him. You would've liked him, he was as passionate as you and he would have been a great Hashira if it wasn't for me, Sabito was way better than I could ever dream to be and you would finally have someone that's worthy of working with you all."
Well now Sanemi felt like a real asshole for his comments a few weeks ago. He begun to stammer "But- but you say that the other pillars are always so beneath you?!" Giyuu just turned his head around to Sanemi and looked confused, tilting his head. " When did i say that?" "Huh? You always say things like that, like the whole I'm not like you shit". Giyuu still looked utterly confused. " Well yeah because I am not like you all, " Sanemi was about to scream at Giyuu again, "I am not good enough to be compared to you pillars. I mean you know that, you said so yourself, right?" but this left him shoked.
Did Giyuu really think that about himself? Did he always mean this with all his comments. Looking back and now hearing everything that Tomoika told him, everything got flipped upside down that he thought he knew about the water pillar. Sanemi groaned and let his head fall into his hands at the realisation.
Giuu Tomioka isn't an arrogant bastard, he is just fucking depressed. Sanemi was the bastard.
Sanemi just breathed deeply one more time and then looked straight at Giyuu "You are a great water pillar and even though it hurts to say, you are one of the best people to spar with and your technique is amazing. I am very sorry what happend to your friend. Ok so here is what were gonna do, you'll quit saying all that misleading, self degrading shit and we'll meet up more for other sparring sessions." Looking out the window at the dark sky and bright shining moon he began standing up again, walking out of the room, only to come back shortly with another futon and some fresh clothes.
"You can sleep here for the night, it's to late to go back now and don't think our conversation is over! I can't accept a pillar that's thinking so lowly about himself and who can't reach his full potential because of that.". Sanemi stood proudly infront of Giyuu, arms crossed infront of his scarred chest announcing, "If you're going to spar with me you're gonna give it your all, you got it dumbass?" Giyuu could only nod his head, a little bit speechless after Sanemis lecture. His stomach was doing these flips again that kind of felt good while looking at Sanemi now.
Later when he layed down and closed his eyes to sleep, he couldn't help but smile. His face felt warm being so close to Sanemi, his new friend! His heart beeting just a tad bit faster, while remembering Sanemis words and his gental side that he got to know today. His stomach doing comfortable flips, at the thought about the next days where he could learn more about the wind pillar.
Right now in this moment Giyuu only knew one thing, he was sure. This is what happiness feels like, oh how he missed this feeling. Maybe with Sanemis help, he could learn to be something other than hollow.
Maybe with Sanemis help, he could finally learn to feel again. This night, Giyuu fell asleep with a smile on his face and hope in his heart.
