Work Text:

“Hey, Ravi?”

Ravi’s brain relaxes in that familiar way it always does when he hears May’s voice, and then tenses back up almost instantly.

He’s at the firehouse. Why is May at the firehouse? Her stepdad is their captain . If Bobby finds out—

Okay, well, nothing will really happen. You can’t get fired for dating the boss’s daughter. But he would really like to prevent any possible awkwardness. Plus, the other firefighters will relentlessly ridicule him once they find out. Everyone who knows about him and May ( everyone really only consists of Harry, but still) already constantly makes fun of him for how obsessed he is with her. He would really like to be in love with his girlfriend without having to experience that.

“Hey, what are you doing here?” he asks, rushing over to the entrance of the firehouse, and desperately hoping no one hears him.

And then he notices. May is wearing his coat around her shoulders.

“Uh, you left this at my apartment,” she says, taking it off and giving it to him, but hesitating before she lets it go.

Ravi smirks. “What, did you want to keep it?”

“No!” says May quickly, blushing.

“You seemed oddly reluctant to give it back to me,” Ravi says, smirking.

“Shut up,” May says, averting her eyes.

“What, do you like wearing my clothes?”

“Maybe I do.”

Ravi shrugs. “Okay, keep it.” He tosses the coat back to her.

“Wait, seriously?” May asks, a smile spreading across her face.

“Why not?” says Ravi. “What’s mine is yours.”

May giggles. “Okay, then. Thanks.” She puts it back on, then cups Ravi’s face and quickly kisses him.

“I love you,” he says, after she pulls back.

“I love you too,” she smiles. “Alright, I’ll see you later?”

“See you later.”

When Ravi turns back, Buck is watching him.

“So,” grins Buck, “May, huh?”

“When the hell did you get here?”

“Doesn’t matter. So, when did this thing with May start? You know, she’s essentially my sister, so I have the right to know if her boyfriend is treating her right.” Buck smirks.

Well, shit. The secrecy was good while it lasted.
