“Wait, wait, wait.” Liam interrupts. “You kissed? Why? Were you that bored?”
“No!” Henry shouts. “We went out clubbing and there was this annoying guy that wouldn’t leave me alone.”
“I had to pretend to be his boyfriend for him to go away.” Alex says, and Henry nods. “It was an emergency.”
Pez drinks his tea again, like the situation has lost all its charm. “Okay, fine. Then what’s so weird? What’s the issue?”
“Nothing.” Both Henry and Alex respond at the same time, and Liam and Pez go back to eating. He can feel how Henry’s body is still tense, and Alex’s fingers drum against his knee nervously.
Pez seems to notice. “What?” He asks. “Did you like it?”
They don’t say anything in response, and that might just be answer enough.
