As they walked away from the portal that had brought them back to Remnant, Rubys mind went to the children her and Weiss had birthed over the past 30 years. They had tried to bring them home, but as the two girls and Jaune were deaged during the battle their kids suddenly broke into shards of light and flew into their parents. Something that they were still trying to process, but part of them knew that their kids would return somehow, assuming all three of them survived.
"Ruby, get down!"
Despite everything that'd happened, when Ruby heard Yangs voice she instinctively obeyed and fell to the ground as a fire round suddenly flew overhead and... impacted Yangs chest? She looked up to find... Yang, but she was wearing the same outfit she'd been wearing back in Haven, only it'd been slightly modified for the heat of Vacuo.
"YANG!"
Ruby whirled around to find the Yang who'd accompanied them out of the Ever After standing next to Blake with a massive hole in her chest, yellow liquid streaming out of it. Ruby shook her head in confusion as, suddenly, Ember Cilica collided with her sisters face, sending her flying 20 meters back into the cliff. The woman gave a growl that no Human throat could produce, and her skin rippled as tentacles suddenly sprouted from her limbs and clothes, wrapping around the throats of Ruby and the others.
Yang growled. "I'll tear you apart for locking me in that vault, bitch!"
The blonde woman launched herself at the shapechanger as shots rang out, cutting the tentacles in half. Ruby and Weiss collapsed to the ground to find themselves being picked up by Sun and Winter, while Nora and Ren helped secure Jaune. Blake barely noticed, frozen as the woman she'd fallen for had turned into a monster.
Yang fired several more shots as she charged, weakening the shapeshifter. When her fist impacted the creatures face a second time, it exploded, and the limbs momentarily flailed wildly before dissolving as she stepped away. Breathing heavily, she turned to Ruby and hugged her tightly.
"Y-Yang?"
Her sister flinched at Rubys tone, and pulled back with worry in her eyes. "I'm here, Ruby."
Ruby didn't answer, she just returned the hug. Yang smiled, but it quickly fell as she saw Blake being restrained by Sun.
"I'll be back, sis."
Yang handed Ruby over to Weiss, then walked over to the cat faunus, her eyes darkening. Blake almost smiled, but then her ears drooped and her eyes widened when Ember Celica reloaded and the blondes eyes went red.
"I'm surprised you returned, coward. Babe, please step back."
Sun nodded and let go, much to Blakes surprise. He walked over to stand beside Yang, and Blake then looked at the angry blonde and gulped.
"Y-Yang, I'm sorry. Please, don't do this. We're friends, aren't we? I mean, come on, the shapeshifter was able to come around, and..."
Yangs eyes flashed. Her arm pulled back and flew forward. Blake was exhausted from the past 24 hours, so she didn't have time to react as Ember Celica collided with her chest and sent her flying. As she came rolling to a stop, Blake felt her Aura finally break. Blake groaned as she tried to get up, specs of blood flying from her mouth as she coughed.
Rubys eyes widened as she ran to Yangs side, Weiss and Jaune right behind her.
"Yang! I know you're still angry about her deserting us, and you have every right to be, but wasn't that a bit much?"
Yang whirled, her anger dying as she looked at her sister. She then looked down at her fist, and sighed before meeting her sisters eyes. She then enveloped the redhead and whitehead in a hug.
"Sorry, Ruby. But she was my friend once, and she couldn't even tell the difference between me and a shapeshifter. I don't blame you or Weiss, sounds like the shapeshifter mostly interacted with Blake, and you two had other things on your minds. Winter told me about what happened in Atlas, and I'm sorry you two had to go through that."
Ruby smiled, though somewhat nervously as she glanced over at Blake. Then she looked at Sun, and noticed he was wearing some yellow armour plating over his forearms, shoulders, and legs. She immediately pulled away and stepped closer.
"Hey, Sun! What's with the new gear?"
Sun sighed long-sufferingly, though there was a slight smile on his face. "Oh, my worrywart bombshell girlfriend talked me into getting some upgrades. I love her, but she should really be more concerned with herself sometimes, especially with how ragged she was running herself trying to find you after she met up with Winter and the others."
Yang's mouth fell open. "Okay, you're sleeping on the couch tonight, mister!"
Sun turned to Ruby with a pained look on his face. "You see what I mean, Ruby?"
His face broke into a grin as he turned to Yang, who grinned back as she walked over and kissed him. Ruby smiled, then cuddled into Weiss and Jaune as her husband and wife pulled her closer to them. All three almost fell over as their various friends and family members still had a tight hold on them.
