Summary
Damian is ten when he meets his father, Bruce Wayne— and the brother he never expected, Duke Thomas. At fifteen, he builds a team of misfits into a family: the Outsiders. At sixteen, he breaks his father’s no-kill rule and runs, believing guilt is easier to bear in his mother’s silence than his father’s eyes. At eighteen, he escapes the League again, only to find he’s been replaced by Timothy Drake, now wearing the symbol Damian created. At nineteen, he apologizes to Timothy— and gains sisters in Cassandra Cain and Stephanie Brown. For once, he feels almost happy. At twenty, Stephanie dies. The family begins to fall apart. At twenty-one, Tim dies too. Damian watches helplessly as Bruce adopts Jason Todd and turns the boy into Shadow. At twenty-two, Stephanie returns from the dead. At twenty-four, so does Tim— but twisted by the Lazarus Pit, more saddness than boy. At twenty-six, Bruce dies, and Damian is left to carry the cowl— and raise Bruce’s last son, Richard Grayson.
