Summary
"The first act of selfishness in the world was done by man, whose fingers have been covered in clay, used to paint—line by line, crooked and uneven—the image of a bear. A bear who had been hunted and skinned to provide food and warmth."
When a historian finds a portrait of herself in a museum, one without an author and one she was certain she never saw, she realises that there must be something she doesn't know. To find out what it is, she decides to leave her life behind in search for the truth, to satiate the curiosity that has been accompanying her throughout her life like an old friend. As the old saying goes, curiosity killed the cat.
