Something like perspective in art is very different from how
scales work in music.

I’m going to get a migraine trying to think about how to make
this work for art. Everyday you cause me headaches.

It’s like, for my MOP, I considered the most common places
where students tend to go off-pitch, or where they struggle
with their hands or the time signature. Then I made them
Intentionally make those common mistakes, so they hear
what the wrong version sounds like vs what the right one is.
So now they know when they’re wrong and understand why
that went wrong, and can work on that.
You could, idk, get them to draw things in differing
perspectives in a single drawing to see how wrong it
looks and focus on why/what looks wrong and what to
focus on.

I know what Lan Sizhui is doing. I believe it’s best to be upfront about this because I do in fact fear you a little.
I have a little program for the intermediate and advanced students to practice errors in their music. I am simply teaching them how to be better at identifying and thereby avoiding common errors. I believe this helps them become better musicians and will serve them well as they proceed through their musical journey.
It is very common for students to be told they are making mistakes and that they need to fix them, without anyone teaching them how to spot these errors or what they even are and why they matter. My weekly classes focus on this aspect and help students practice by making errors intentionally so they may recognise and fix them themselves even in the absence of teachers/more experienced players.
Lan Sizhui must’ve simply been practicing this. 🙂
There is no cause for concern in his abilities, as you will see shortly in both the progress card and talent exhibition (that I hope you will be able to attend). Is there anything else you would like to know?
