Miral grabbed the small, hardback book from the brightly coloured bookshelf and climbed onto Tom’s knee. On the front cover were pictures of many different animals. Tom turned to the first page.
‘Oooo, it’s a lion. What noise does a lion make?’
Miral looked thoughtful. ‘Snap, snap.’
Tom chuckled. ‘Not quite, try again.’
‘Quack, quack.’
‘That’s a duck. What about a lion?’
‘Mooooooo!’
‘No, no, that’s a cow,’ he said with a laugh. ‘This is a lion. They make a very big, very loud noise. Do you know what it is?’
‘Roaaar!’
‘That’s right, can you say it again?’
‘RRRRRRRRROOOOOOOAAAAARRRRR!’
