Summary
The histories written afterwards will tell how Sauron died cackling madly in the temple he had built for his Dark Master and how Tar-Míriel, the last queen of Numenor and the last martyr of the Faithful ones, died atop Meneltarma, praying for the Valar. Fitting ends for both characters of the tragedy.
But none of the historians knew how they really died. They weren’t there. And if they were, they didn’t survive. On the streets between the palace and the temple, Mairon and Míriel saw each other across the street. No words could ever be heard over the chaos and noise of the world ending, but seeing was enough in this case. In these last moments, Mairon and Míriel ran towards each other, naked fear so easily visible in their eyes that they both knew. This was the end. Their fingertips just about brushed, and it was almost enough to touch, before the great wave, the wrath of the Valar, ripped them apart.
