Summary
There’s a few seconds of silence, long enough for Suguru to wonder if the other man’s fallen asleep. “You should know, Suguru, that you’re a terrible liar.”
Suguru frowns. “I’m not lying.”
“It’s our first time properly being apart since we started seeing each other. You’re allowed to be upset.”
“I know that.” Suguru acquiesces. “But you aren’t, so why would I be?”
“We don’t have to be feeling the same things all the time. I know you. I know you’re finding this hard.” Satoru’s voice is softer, now. Not a whisper, but something close — like he’s admitting to some sort of vulnerability. Suguru’s vulnerability. “Don’t hide it from me.”
Suguru inhales sharply, leaning back in his seat and pinching the bridge of his nose. “Fine. It is hard. But I know it shouldn’t be, so just — it’s fine. I’ll manage.”
For the first time since getting together with Suguru, Satoru leaves home.
