Milori truly could not remember the last time he had been this happy. It had been centuries, at least. Centuries without his love. Centuries without being able to hold her, the only thing left of her being the memories he replayed in his mind over and over again.
He watched as her eyes scanned over her warm season fairies, making sure none of them injured themselves in ice skates. He was told the one with the glasses was quite clumsy.
He saw the way she cared for them, treated them all not just as subjects, but as if they were her own. She had come a long way from under the shadow of Elvina. He supposed they had both grown over the past few centuries.
Milori knew they had much to discuss later, both professionally and personally, but he simply could not take his eyes off of her. She was as beautiful as he remembered, the test of time showing on her face ever so slightly, but only made her seem more ethereal. Her blue eyes, her brown skin, her golden hair that seemed as if pixie dust itself was woven into it. He could spend all of eternity worshipping her.
It had been so long. So many sleepless nights thinking of her, thinking of all the times they had had together. He no longer had to reminisce. There were moments that he felt like he was living in a dream. Milori had long since accepted that they would no longer be together, though he kept loving her still. A small part of him had held the hope that he would unite with her again.
Milori felt complete, the constant tightness in his chest that he learned to ignore no longer existed. The stars themselves could not make him let her go now.
He felt her squeeze his hand, her eyes meeting his . You’re as beautiful as the day I lost you. And he would never lose her again.
