A day with Atsushi, BEAST Characters

Summary:

Atsushi finds himself in the BEAST Universe. Who is at fault? Dazai and Gin, they really like to annoy the wrong people, alright?

“No!” Atsushi was adamant, slamming his hand down on the woman’s desk. “You are taking your break and you will eat the food I cooked for you, or so help me!”

“You think we can keep him?” Chūya asked, like hell would let that miracle worker leave.

“Do- Don’t you think he will be missed?” Reaper asked, then again, he also wanted this Atsushi to stay. The boy felt warm and Dazai wasn’t as harsh as usual with him thanks to the boy being around. “We’d have to deal with someone, right?”

“Bah! Let them come!” Chūya would not just give that boy up like that, no way!

Notes:

So here is the fic, as promised! I think the title says it all and before you guys ask, no idea when the next one will come!

Oh yea, I have later look for any mistakes or so... I don't have the time for it right now.

Enjoy~~~!

Work Text:

Armed Detective Agency, BEAST Universe

An unimpressed Atsushi stood in the middle of the office he usually worked in. The boy would be having a few words with Gin and Dazai when he finally got back home. A knocked-out ability user laid to his feet while the people in the office stared warily at him. He ignored the looks that Kunikida and Yosano shot him while Ranpo was snickering. Naomi and Tanizaki had taken to hiding away from him, well as good as they could in that corner.

Akutagawa, in a beige trench coat!, was glaring at him which had him smiling at the man. There was a redheaded man standing behind the surly man and Atsushi wondered just who that man was. `I just wish they wouldn’t look at me with such distrust…´ Atsushi was a bit peeved that it was him that the stupid ability user had managed to get and not Gin and Dazai, the two would have deserved it.

It was them that annoyed the man and now he had to deal with being somewhere familiar but at the same time not. Did it hurt him a little when he noticed the reaction his colleagues had to him? Yes, but he also knew it wasn’t their fault. `I wonder who I am to them to treat me with such distrust…´

Before Atsushi could say anything, Ranpo was the one to come to his rescue.

“Sooo Tiger-boy,” Atsushi blinked at the name, looking at a smug Ranpo. “What’s it like living with us where you are from, hm?”

“Ranpo-san, what are you talking about?” Kunikida asked, eyes still trained on a threat in front of him. “Why are you treating the White Reaper like that? You know that he is a murderer!”

Atsushi’s breath hitched at the words, his eyes wide while Ranpo sighed and shook his head at Kunikida.

“Really? Don’t you see the differences?” Ranpo clicked his tongue, his tone annoyed. Kunikida glared at the older man but Ranpo spoke again, “For one, his hair is longer which, by the way, you totally rock it, Sushi-chan!”

“T- Thank you,” came the flustered responds, making everyone stare wide eyed at the stammer from the White Reaper, or whoever he was. “M- My boyfriends think the same.”

“Of course, they do,” Ranpo said smoothly, a grin on his lips. “The other thing is his clothes, the White Reaper would never wear a skirt.”

Now that Ranpo was saying it, they all stared at the clothes the boy wore. A lavender color skirt, boots that went up to his knees and a white blouse. Yea, that was certainly not something the White Reaper would ever wear. `His face is also really soft looking too!´ was the collective thought.

“Wait a second, you said boyfriends, didn’t you? As in more than one?” Yosano asked, her brain finally starting to work like it should.

“Ah yes?” Atsushi blinked at her, a light flush to his cheeks. “I- I have thr- three…”

“THREE!?”

It didn’t take long for them all to forget who’s copy, or whatever Atsushi was to stand in front of them. In fact, the still out cold ability user was also forgotten while Yosano, and Naomi, began to grill this Atsushi about his boyfriends.

A bit later

It didn’t take long for Atsushi to be accepted and be called ‘Atsushi-chan’ by this Armed Detective Agency. Safe for this Akutagawa which Atsushi was currently bullying into eating. The man was just as catastrophic as his own Akutagawa. In fact, both were horrible when it came to eating and cooking food. The redhaired man, Oda, was watching in amusement while Ranpo was still getting over the shock that his other self was dating this Atsushi.

Yosano was teasing him for that and also a tiny bit jealous. She could see the appeal in dating the cute Atsushi-chan, especially with how he was currently sporting tiger ears and a tail. So far, Fukuzawa had yet to spot the White Reaper copy…

“Eat, Akutagawa!” Atsushi hissed, a bowl with steaming rice in one hand and the other holding a plate of fish. “You’re horrible at taking care of yourself!”

“You stay away!” Akutagawa hissed, leaning back in his chair while Oda chuckled in amusement.

Wait… where did he cook that?” Naomi asked, blinking owlishly at the scene.

In our kitchen,” Ranpo told her, munching on his sweets.

We have a kitchen?” Tanizaki asked, flabbergasted. “Since when do we have one?

Since always?” Kunikida told him, rolling his eyes and typing away on a report.

“STAY AWAY-!” came Akutagawa’s screech, a brown Rashōmon trying to stop Atsushi.

“YOU CANNOT MAKE ME! EAT ALREADY!” Atsushi was chasing Akutagawa, trying to feed him the rice. “EAT! YOU ARE JUST SKIN AND BONES!”

Yosano, having decided to take care of the still out of it ability user, entered to this the office and promptly turned on her hells. Nope, she was so not going to deal with this. No way, no how! Hopefully, the man that had come with Atsushi-chan would wake up soon. Ranpo had already figured the man was the only one to get the two back to their home.

Granted, the man woke up soon that is. Ranpo had snickered a little at those words, like he knew something they didn’t.

Port Mafia, Dazai’s office

“The fuck is this shit?” Chūya asked, looking between the two White Reapers.

One of them, the one he was more familiar with was stiff as a board and watching with wide eyes at his doppelganger. Said doppelganger, dressed in a skirt and blouse, was yelling at Dazai Osamu. Their boss, the most feared man at that!

“I CANNOT BELIEVE YOU!” came the bellow, making the White Reaper and Chūya wince at the sheer volume. “WHEN RANPO-SAN TOLD ME TO COME HERE, I DID NOT EXPECT YOU TO LAZE OFF! AGAIN!”

“Ah…” Dazai blinked, clearly amused at this Atsushi in front of him.

It was only good that he still had the book and he had already a good idea what had happened. He sneaked a glance at his subordinates and was trying his best to not burst out laughing. He had never seen a silent Chūya before and it was a great picture for him to see. It was something he would treasure for a long time coming, he was sure of that.

This version of his White Reaper was cute, yelling at him like that as if he cared about him. As if any Atsushi would really care for him like that, save for their teacher-student bond.

“-AND DON’T GET ME STARTED ON THE SO-CALLED FOOD YOU SERVE HERE!” Atsushi was still ranting, getting red in the face. “HOW CAN ANY OF YOU SURVIVE ON THAT! YOU SHOULD EAT HEALTHIER!”

Chūya-san?” Reaper asked, getting nervous just from watching. “S- Should we get between that?

No, no, let the bastard deal with it… I am too sober to deal with this shit!” Chūya huffed, taking a hold of the Reaper and dragging him out. “Come on, we are getting drunk!

B- Bu- But we still have to-!

Not my problem! Move it!

Mess Hall, Port Mafia

Everyone was staring with wide eyes at the cute dressed version of their White Reaper. Said boy was glaring at Dazai Osamu, their boss, and force feeding him with food that looked consumable. Since when did any of their cooks know how to cook crab?

“Eat, or so help me-!” Reaper hissed, eyes narrowed and tiger ears twitching atop his head. “I slaved over that for you-!”

“Ah, how can I say no to that?” was it them, or did their boss sound nervous?

“You better!”

Holy shit… Boss is getting ordered around by the Reaper…

If I didn’t see it…

“Good boy!” Atsushi chirped out, a smile on his face which had everyone stop and stare at him with a light flush.

I didn’t know he could look so cute…

I want to pinch his cheeks!

Dazai wordlessly opened his mouth and let himself be fed; Atsushi kept smiling at him. `Ah… Just like my Dazai-san, so picky!´ Atsushi thought fondly.

A day later, Oda

Oda was squirming in his chair, next to him Akutagawa was doing the same. The two glared at their colleagues who snickered at them. In front of them stood Atsushi, hands on his hips and berating the two.

“This is not something to just forget like that! You need to be more careful when you go out like that!” the boy was ranting, gesturing wildly. “Hasn’t anyone told you two to check in with your colleagues more?!”

“What’s it matter-!” Akutagawa tried to speak, only fro Atsushi to glare at him.

“I speak how I want to with you!” came the huff. “Really, you went in there without a plan and nearly lost your head! What if Rashōmon didn’t react in time huh?”

Akutagawa pursed his lips, refusing to look at Atsushi.

“And you-!” Atsushi turned to Oda, who had hoped that the boy had forgotten about him. “You’re supposed to be his mentor, right? Why didn’t you stop him!!?”

“A- Ah, I- About that-!”

“No, don’t even try it!”

… Pff-!” the others tried their best to stifle their laughter, it wasn’t really working.

Can’t we keep him?” Naomi asked, eyes glinting. “He’s entertaining!

Later that day, back in the Port Mafia

“… Gin-chan,” Atsushi looked disappointed at this Gin.

The woman was refusing to look at him while Dazai was working on his paperwork, for once. Chūya was in awe while the White Reaper was looking at his other self in awe and respect.

“Gin-chan, look at me,” Atsushi tried again, the woman still not looking at him.

“I- I have-!” she spoke, voice soft.

“No, time for a break,” Atsushi huffed, crossing his arms. “Because Dazai-san is a lazy good for nothing, does not mean you have to suffer with him!”

“B- But-!”

“No!” Atsushi was adamant, slamming his hand down on the woman’s desk. “You are taking your break and you will eat the food I cooked for you, or so help me!”

You think we can keep him?” Chūya asked, like hell would let that miracle worker leave.

Do- Don’t you think he will be missed?” Reaper asked, then again, he also wanted this Atsushi to stay. The boy felt warm and Dazai wasn’t as harsh as usual with him thanks to the boy being around. “We’d have to deal with someone, right?

Bah! Let them come!” Chūya would not just give that boy up like that, no way!

Agency, Ranpo

“No, Ranpo-san has to go to his dentist appointment, no excuses,” Atsushi glared at the pouting detective. “You complained about your teeth hurting, didn’t you?”

“Holy shit-! We have to keep him!” Yosano breathed out, awed at Atsushi was dealing with Ranpo. “I never get him to go to his!

Well, that ability user is still out, right?” Kunikida asked, rubbing his knuckles. So, what if he knocked the man out again, who was there to tell? “He really is good for the moral…

“Agreed!

Akutagawa pouted from his place at his desk, Oda doing the same. Both had food standing in front of them and Atsushi glancing at them. The two didn’t dare to not touch the food Atsushi had cooked for them, not after the last scolding.

Port Mafia, White Reaper

Atsushi was staring at his other self who was fidgeting at the intense stare. Tiger ears were twitching atop Atsushi’s head while the Reaper glanced at them.

“Come on, it is easy… The tiger won’t ever hurt us, you know?” Atsushi spoke in a soft voice; he had smelled the blood on his other self.

Gin had spilled the beans when Atsushi had asked why his other self wasn’t using his tiger as often as he did. Atsushi had not been amused at what he had been told. So far, he had yet to catch Dazai alone and give him a piece of his mind, `Dazai-san will not be safe from me!´

“H- How would you know?” Reaper demanded, expression afraid and hands going to his collar.

“I learned to live with it, accept myself,” Atsushi countered, voice still gentle. “It wasn’t easy but it is part of me… It always will be.”

Atsushi saw Reaper swallow nervously, seemingly at a loss for words. He had seen how the other’s hands went to the collar and Atsushi was trying his best to not scowl. He didn’t want to set him off, there was a time and place to rant and rave later on. Preferable, Dazai alone in his office.

“Embrace it,” Atsushi still spoke in a soft voice, hands slowly going to the other’s neck. “It won’t hurt you or those you want to protect… Trust me.”

“H- How can I know that?”  came the whispered words, Reaper letting the other Atsushi’s hands go to his collar.

He really wanted to believe the other, honestly! It was just so hard after years of using that collar, having to fear in losing control. Dazai had drilled it into his head that he could only control the tiger like this, that there was no other way. Yet, this other Atsushi claimed differently…

“Good boy,” Atsushi breathed out, carefully taking the collar off.

He tried not to wince at seeing the deep marks and the blood that was freely flowing. His ears flattening a little and a tiger twitching behind him. He smiled when he saw how nervous Reaper was before a blue light took over.

“Alright, here we go,” Atsushi sighed, his own ability activating.

Soon enough, there were two giant white tigers in the room. One bigger than the other. The bigger one was staring at the smaller one which had bleeding wounds at its neck. Atsushi took a step closer to the Reaper and nudged at his neck, a low chuff leaving his throat. The other tiger flinched, trying to growl.

`Ah… This will take time…´ Atsushi nudged his counterpart again, the smaller tiger glowering a little. Nudging the smaller one again, Atsushi figured, he would take it one step at a time.

Agency, Fukuzawa

“We are not sending him back,” Fukuzawa spoke, stroking a white tiger and being delighted at the chuff it earned him. “He is our mascot now.”

“It doesn’t work like that,” Kunikida reminded, watching how their boss was petting Atsushi-chan.

“I’m sure it does now,” Ranpo snickered, having peaked into the infirmary and seen the ability user still out of it. “I am surprised the man is still not awake…”

“Yes, I wonder why,” Naomi laughed nervously, not looking at anyone.

Port Mafia, Verlaine

“You are an idiot,” Atsushi told the man, Reaper clinging to him.

“Ah, excuse you?” the blond was confused, why were there two White Reapers?

Gin, having been forced to show Atsushi where Verlaine was, was trying her best to sneak off.

“No, you are an idiot!” Atsushi gave him a once over. “You’re going to help me with this mess.”

“What mess?”

Atsushi didn’t answer and just dragged Verlaine off, Gin following them when Atsushi glared at her. She didn’t like this version of the White Reaper, not all! He was confusing and questioning everything. Dazai was even acting weirder and actually looking at the White Reaper in a new light, apparently. Chūya had been confused when he had walked into the office to see the White Reaper being sitting on Dazai’s lap with the man cuddling him.

`What witchcraft is this?!´ the woman wondered.

Agency, Akutagawa

Atsushi gave Akutagawa a look that spoke volumes. The black-haired man was fidgeting in plac3e while Yosano tried to hide her snicker. Atsushi had dragged the man into the infirmary after Akutagawa came back from a mission which he had gotten hurt on. The man had wanted to do his paperwork but Atsushi had been faster.

As if he would let Akutagawa work like this.

“Come on, Akutagawa,” Yosano snorted, already getting her supplies ready. “Just let it happen.”

“Be a good boy now,” Atsushi told him, noting the distasteful look on the man’s face. “If you’re good, I’ll make you a fig cake.”

“… For the cake,” the man muttered, glaring when Yosano laughed.

“Now, where is Oda-san hiding?” Atsushi asked, frowning. “He was supposed to look out for you.”

Meanwhile with Oda

“… I need to leave the country…”

Port Mafia, Dazai

“What have we learned, Dazai-san?” Atsushi asked, hands on hips while Dazai was pouting.

“You’re worse than a wife?” the boss snarked, flinching when Atsushi hit him with a heavy folder filled with papers. “Ooowwwie!”

“How about you stop being a bully and act like a good boss, hm?” Dazai flinched at the smile that was directed at him.

I want to marry him,” Chūya breathed out, spying inside the office from the door.

I don’t think that Reaper is going to like that,” Gin pointed out, staring at her colleague who glared at Chūya.

Atsu-mom is not on the market!” Gin felt her fingers twitch when she saw the tiger ears atop Reaper’s head.

Atsushi was a miracle worker or a witch, Gin wasn’t sure which one it was just yet. She would bet her whole savings it was the latter, why else would the Reaper be so calm right now? He wasn’t even wearing his collar and sporting randomly through the day either tiger ears or a tail. She had never seen the boy this comfortable with his ability like this.

“Woah, Atsu-mom, eh?” Chūya eyed the glowering boy. “What did I miss?

“DO YOUR PAPERWORK ALREADY-!”

“YOU CANNOT MAKE ME!”

“WANNA BET ON THAT!”

“NO WAIT- DON’T-!”

Chūya cackled when there was suddenly a white tiger sitting on Dazai. A very smug looking tiger at that.

“HEAVY-!”

Agency

“Do you really have to go?” Ranpo asked, pouting.

“I am sure that my friends are missing me,” Atsushi sweat dropped, Naomi clinging to his legs and the White Reaper too. “Uhrm…”

“My head hurts,” came the whimper from behind him, the ability user had a few bumps on his head. “What happened to me…?”

“No idea,” came the chorused answer, Atsushi was just confused.

“The last days were certainly interesting,” Oda mused while Akutagawa nodded, both were secretly glad that Atsushi would be leaving.

Having Atsushi be angry with them was not something they wanted to suffer for the rest of their lives. No matter if the others wanted it or not.

Before anything else could be said or added, the ability user had opened a portal for them to get back to. He had noticed the looks thrown his way and had a feeling just where his new bumps on his head came from. He would rather not suffer brain damage, thank you!

“Come on-!”

With that, Atsushi and he were gone, leaving behind a pouting office.

“We should have kept the man knocked out,” Fukuzawa was the one to speak, surprisingly, no one disagreed.

Back in his own universe

“GIN! DAZAI-SAN!” Atsushi screeched, the moment he was home, seeing his friends and colleagues. “YOU TWO HAVE A LOT TO ANSWER FOR!”

“SUSHI!”

“My Treasure~!”
