She knows everyone thinks that she doesn't like him, that she hates him.
Because he had killed, and didn't feel regret for it. Because the reason he no longer killed wasn't because he believed it was wrong, but because they'd made him stop. They had had to make him stop. But he still believed that killing was the right thing to do, and they all knew it.
They think she’s uncomfortable around him because of that.
And that's just not true.
She's uncomfortable around him because he's screaming, all the time. Wordless, silent. It's not on his face, but his body screams. Always.
It's so loud. She doesn't know how the others can't see it. But it's like he's dying, somehow.
It's awful to see. And whenever she tries to bring it up, they don't listen. She can't make them listen to her.
He doesn't listen either, he just says it's fine. But there's something wrong with him. It's not to do with his beliefs about killing, that's not what's wrong. It's something else.
And it's not getting better. Every time she sees him, it's worse. There's something broken inside him, and no one else has even noticed.
That is why she's uncomfortable around him.
