    The bandages come off. Jiaoqiu’s vision, predictably, does not.

    Jiaoqiu opens his eyes. Blinks twice, three times. But he doesn't see.

    With the bandages removed, the darkness has only turned to a dull twilight grey– only some semblance of light and dark remains.

    “I see,” Jiaoqiu says. And then he laughs, hollow and dry.

    A slip of the tongue. Almost funny as Jiaoqiu is starting to think he won’t– won't ever see anything again. Blindness is a near-universal consequence of Tumbledust poisoning, after all.
