“How could you do this to me, Luz?!” Amity asked as she sunk to the ground, clutching her heart. She turned away from her love, her heart obviously not able to handle it.
Luz stood over her, fists at her side and a dramatic breeze blowing past her, ruffling her clothing. Her gaze narrowed as she raised her chin.
“You made me do this, my...” She paused as her voice trembled. “My sweet little potato...”
“We can make it right!”
“No, nothing can change what has happened.”
“There must be a way!”
Hunter leaned against the frame of the kitchen doorway, watching Luz and Amity act out this exaggerated scene.
He took a sip from his cup of hot cocoa while Amity clung to Luz’s leg and burst into tears.
He sighed and adjusted his position when Luz turned away, trying to hold back tears of her own.
“All done, what did I–what?” Vee turned the corner into the doorway and paused when she saw the scene taking place in the living room. She looked utterly bewildered as she turned to Hunter, who regarded her with a tight smile.
“I was in the bathroom for two minutes. How did this happen?”
“Well, you see,” Hunter said, leaning his back against the door frame. “On Luz’s turn, she stepped on a random block space. She received an item which she could use to annihilate Amity’s coin lead. Amity attempted to beg for mercy. Luz did not listen, leading to the scene before you.”
“Hm, maybe it wasn’t a great idea to suggest Maria Party.” Vee took note of Hunter’s mug. “And your cocoa?”
He sipped his cocoa. “Trade secret.”
