Lesbians of Rust (Twilight x Luna)

Summary:

Luna wakes up very late at night, only to find Twilight, her girlfriend, hasn't come to bed yet. When she does find Twilight, Luna is a bit surprised at what's kept her from sleeping, and tries to get her to sleep.

Notes:

Simple cute fic between what's become my new favorite ship, as of last year: Twilight x Luna. One part references another fanfic called "When The Moth Loves The Flame", though with slightly edited context to better fit in my own mlp universe's lore.

Uhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh It's only been over 4 years since I posted a fanfic :)))))))))))). I started college and I may have gotten transfem bottom surgery as of this june, so I guess you could say I've been pretty busy.

And uhhh yeah they're anthro pones since I really genuinely love anthro ponies. I know the general mlp fandom has kind of an aversion to anthro ponies, which unfortunately makes sense since like 90% of content made about anthro ponies is just porn, but, eh, they're still my personal favorite type of pone.

Enjoy :3

Work Text:

It was half past 3am when Luna awoke to take a short break from her job as the watcher of ponies’ dreams. Before she had to be physically awake while she performed her task, but after some help from Twilight, now her girlfriend, she’d been able to actually sleep for real while still walking through dreams, meaning she could finally stay on the same schedule as everypony else. She stretched her arms out and reached out to grab her girlfriend, but found her hands grasping at nothing. Moments later she opened her eyes and looked over to see that Twilight was indeed not there. She groggily sat up, looked around the bedroom, and still no Twilight. She stayed like that for a few minutes as her body woke up properly, before standing up and heading out to the rest of the castle. She would find Twilight, see why she wasn’t in bed, relax with her for a bit, then go back to sleep and help ponies with their nightmares. Simple task, right?

Well, only the first part was. The first place Luna checked, the work/office room, luckily did have Twilight in it. However Twilight wasn’t going over political paperwork, she was instead playing a game on her computer. She was playing DooM, specifically it’s latest expansion: Legacy of Rust. She had been on a classic DooM binge as of these past couple weeks. Luna considered herself much more of a gamer than Twilight did, so she was familiar with the late night gaming session. Yet it was surprising to see Twilight staying up this late, something Luna swore off years ago when her role as the dream watcher became more serious. Twilight had her headphones on so she didn’t hear Luna open the door. She snuck up behind Twilight, seeing her blast away cacodemons, mancubi, and a revenant with the rocket launcher.

“Ahem” Luna muttered to try to get Twilight’s attention. No response came from Twilight. Luna instead just tapped Twilight on her left shoulder, causing her to jolt a bit then quickly look back. She paused the game while still keeping her head turned away from the screen. Twilight’s reddened eyes locked with the gentle gaze of her lover. For a few seconds the two just stared at each other. “Hello Twiddles.” Luna finally spoke again.

“……..Hi.” Twilight managed to get out. She took one ear out of her headphones, still keeping her gaze on Luna.

Luna stared at Twilight a bit more before speaking again. “…Do you know what time it is, love?” She asked.

“…I… What time is it…” Twilight said, turning back to her computer and alt-tabbing out of DooM to see the time. “Oh fuck.” She muttered. She then alt-tabbed back into DooM and resumed playing, but considerably more frantically. “Just gonna finish this level.” A cyberdemon, some ghouls, and some more cacos appeared as she moved forwards. Luna just watched as her girlfriend kept on playing, taking the ghouls out with the chaingun before rocketing the cacos.

“…Twilight, your game will be here tomorrow. Come back to bed, love.” Luna said, inching ever closer to Twilight.

“Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Mhm mhm. Be there soon.” Twilight trailed off as the game grasped her focus again. “Fuck.” She winced as she took one of the cyberdemon’s rockets to the face. She concentrated on dodging the rest of the rocket barrage, then closed the gap with the incinerator flamethrower equipped to burn it to the ground.

“…Honey, please. It is very late, even for me.” Luna said. She wrapped her arms around Twilight’s shoulders.

“Mhm.” Was all Twilight replied. She flipped the switch, healed up, grabbed the soul-sphere and the secret mega-armor, then returned to the previous area where a new group of demons had spawned. She chaingunned the hitscanners and plasma guys before switching to the rocket launcher to take out the hell knights and revenants.

“…You know this is not about me. What about your role as Princess? You will be too tired in the morning to preform your royal duties.” Luna tried to convince Twilight it’d be better for her own health to get off now instead of continuing.

“Playing DooM is my royal duties.” Twilight replied as she picked up the blue key card and headed to the next area.

Luna let out a sigh. At this point, she knew that there was no way she’d be able to pry Twilight away from her game. She just stood there and watched the dimly lit screen as Twilight kept on playing. Twilight raised a bridge and flipped the switch to open up an area with dozens of demons. She cleared out the pinkies with the super shotgun then switched back to the rocket launcher to take out the imps, hell knights, revenants, and mancubi. Once the room was cleared she flipped another switch causing the central area to lower, revealing a spider mastermind. She pulled out the incinerator and stunlocked it into oblivion with the lingering fire damage. Once the mechanical demon was felled she turned her focus to the newly spawned pain elementals, riskily taking them out with the rocket launcher after expending all the incinerator’s ammo on the spider mastermind, all while dodging hellfire from more cacos and mancubi, blowing them up too once the lost soul spawning meatballs were destroyed. Twilight picked up the red key card and some med kits before rushing to the exit several areas away, super shotgunning some plasma guys and one last revenant before finally pressing the exit button.

Twilight took off her headphones, leaned back in her chair, took in a deep breath and let out an even deeper sigh as the level’s stat screen rolled. Her hands clenched a bit as she took them off the keyboard and held them to her weary face. “Mmmmmmmmm” Twilight let out a strained moan without opening her mouth as her self-imposed sleep deprivation began catching up to her. Luna pressed her snout against Twilight’s forehead.

“All done, little moth?” Luna asked. Twilight gained the pet name ‘little moth’ after a moment when she had to consider if her relationship with Luna was truly what she wanted. Despite having been an alicorn demi-god for over 50 years now, she’s never ascended into a full blown God, especially not an Eldritch God as Celestia and Luna secretly were. That night she accidentally saw the full power and true form of Celestia and Luna left her terrified, and she compared herself to a moth that was attracted to a large flame. That night forward Luna started affectionately calling Twilight her ‘little moth’, partially as a self-reminder how Twilight felt about her.

Twilight looked back at her computer and went to the start of the next level to save her game there. She finally closed the game, shut down her computer, and leaned back into Luna’s snout touching her forehead. “Yeah. I am now.” She replied.

Luna responded with a smooch on Twilight’s forehead. “It is bed time now, Twiddles.” Luna said softly.

Twilight sharply inhaled as the real life came back to her. She felt a little dizzy as she pushed herself out of her chair, holding Luna’s shoulders for balance. She lazily looked up at Luna and gave a simple nod, and the two gay pones headed back to bed. “Could you visit me in my dreams tonight? Please?” Twilight asked when they entered their room.

“Of course I will, dear.” Luna said softly. She gently let Twilight down on the bed before getting in on her side. They snuggled close under their own separate blankets. “Goodnight, my little moth.” Luna whispered as she gave Twilight a gentle smooch.

“Goodnight Luna.” Twilight whispered back. They gently held each other as they fell into a deep and restful sleep.

About an hour later, Luna finally went to visit Twilight’s dream. She stopped in front of the spiritual door to Twilight’s dream, holding the doorknob for a few moments as she wondered what lovely dream her girlfriend would be having. But, when she opened the door and entered the dream, she saw beige and red burning mountains, ruins of eons past, and gore splattered across the ground with lakes of blood; Hell itself. For just a moment Luna worried if Twilight was having a nightmare, before hearing the voice of her love just a few feet away.

“Luna!” Twilight called out gleefully. Luna turned to her right to see Twilight standing amongst dozens of demon corpses, all slain by her hands. “You’re here!” Her smile brightened up even the darkest depths of this dreamed up realm of evil.

Luna just blankly stared at Twilight for a moment, then looking around at the grounds of despair. “…Hi ……..I see that you, uhm, have not actually stopped playing DooM.” Luna stated as she turned back to Twilight.

“Yep. You know what they say: DooM is eternal.” Twilight said. She shoved the shells into her super shotgun as she approached her lover, hugging Luna once she got to her.

As Luna hugged Twilight she grew concerned over how bloody and bruised Twilight was, even more concerning was how Twilight didn’t seem to notice at all. “Twilight?” Luna spoke.

“Yeah?” Twilight said as she pulled away and stared into her girlfriend’s eyes.

“…What is your health at?” Luna asked, mildly suspiciously.

Twilight paused for a second then looked down, reading her HUD. She raised her head quickly and stared at Luna for another moment. “23.” Twilight said with an oddly oblivious smile.

Luna just looked at Twilight for another few moments before bringing her in for a sensual kiss right on her bloodied lips. Twilight held Luna’s back, and felt a comforting warmth wash over her. When Luna finally broke the kiss, Twilight noticed that she’d been healed to 200% health and 200% armor too. All her wounds were fixed and all her blood was back in her body where it was supposed to be, save for a small amount still stained on the lips of her lover. “Huh. Thank you.” Twilight said, wiping the last of her blood off of Luna’s lips.

“I know it is just a dream but, please, try not to take too much damage.” Luna said softly. She rested her hands on Twilight’s shoulders as she gazed lovingly into Twilight’s beautiful purple eyes.

Twilight then took a step back and pulled out an incinerator, holding it out to present it to Luna. “Here.” She said as her arms extended towards the watcher of dreams. “You can kill demons with me and make sure I’m all safe.” Twilight said, still having a cheery tone and still wearing that gleeful smile.

Luna glanced down at the powerful flamethrower for a bit. “Are you sure you wish for me to wield this weapon? I know of its power and would not want you to deprive yourself of such a useful weapon.” Luna said, glancing up at Twilight.

“No it’s fine. I got every other weapon. You can better protect me with its ability to stunlock.” Twilight said. Luna didn’t take it just yet, instead just staring back down at it again. “Besides-” Twilight said, causing Luna to look up at her once more. “-you are my flame after all.” Twilight said with a soft and comforting smile.

Luna stared into Twilight’s eyes yet again, seeing a longing deep within them. She lowered her gaze back to the incinerator, finally taking the weapon in her grasp. She studied the flame spewing machine, testing the trigger and causing a puff of flame to leap from the barrel. She heard low growls from her right side, and saw a horde of dozens of demons in the distance heading their way. Luna spoke to Twilight without taking her eyes off the approaching demons.

“Lead the way, my little moth.”
