Summary:

It's cold, and wet, and dark, and Denki is falling, and nobody is there to catch him.

OR

Everything about Denki's life feels so unmanageable, so... uncontrollable. He can't control his ability to focus and pay attention, or his failing grades resulting from the shitty hold he has on his ADHD, or the way everyone just sees him as some airheaded dumb blonde. He can't control his quirk, either, or even his own damn emotions and how they seem to get heavier and heavier with each passing day.

Denki might not be able to control his life, but maybe he can control the end of it.

Notes:

i'm fresh outta the psych ward, and i figured this work was fitting with how i ended up there :D

this was originally posted on wattpad, and i don't have the energy to go through and edit/rewrite my shitty middleschooler writing at the moment, so my bad if it's shit. this is barely a oneshot- more of a drabble- but i'll probably start transferring some of the longer ones soon

as always, trigger warnings that haven't been tagged because i don't like spoilers will be in my end notes underneath my fancy spoiler button

(See the end of the work for more notes.)

Work Text:

The moon glowed above him as rain poured down, his drenched clothes sticking to his shivering frame in that distinctive and uncomfortable way fabric wet from rain would cling onto skin suffocatingly. He had just made it to the bridge, warm tears streaming down his face and contrasting with the cold rain that pelted down.

Denki set his backpack down, double checking the note was in the front pocket before glancing over at the railing. This was it. He slipped his checkered vans off his feet, neatly placing them beside his bag.

He took one step forward, then another. And now he was at the railing, the only thing that kept him away from...

death.

That word hung low in his mind, replaying over and over and over.

deathdeathdeathdeathdeathdeath-

Denki carefully began climbing the railing, holding tightly onto it. This was the one thing he actually had control of in his life, and he wouldn't lose that either. A shaky sigh escaped the blonds lips as he peered down at the ocean, the water seeming miles away. Memories played through his mind, the happy times. The ones that were gone, and never coming back.

He stared at the stars for awhile, counting and finding constellations. He was stalling. Maybe he wanted someone to find him. To help him. To tell him that he was worth saving and that he had things to live for.

That never happened.

And as his final breaths passed through his lips, he leaned forward. Falling.
