Summary
By the end of fifth year, Tom Riddle has the Noble and Most Ancient House of Black at Hogwarts wrapped around his pretty little index finger like a precious heirloom ring. All except for one member, that is. Alphard Black is an admirable figure amongst the Black family children as a star Quidditch player and talented runemaker. Not to mention his quiet ambition makes for quite the cunning strategist. Naturally, Tom wants him on his side. But then sixth year happens and the Black family madness rears its ugly head through Alphard, taking with it any chances of his allegiance to Tom. Only it isn’t really madness, is it?
Or, there’s a reason why Alphard’s photo was blasted from the Black family tapestry and it has nothing to do with madness or gold and everything to do with Harry Potter.
