Summary
Nick’s mobile woke him up.
He used to be able to sleep through anything, mobiles, storms, his brother stomping around the house, his Mum vacuuming, but since being with Charlie he’s developed the ability to wake up with a single mobile call. All it took was the familiar melody of his ringtone and Nick was instantly awoken, from however deep a slumber.
He was a little disoriented as he reached out for his mobile, almost knocking it off the table in his confused haste, but managed to grab it before it fell, bringing the screen to his face.
The name that came up, Chell, was Charlie’s roommate and friend. Just seeing it set Nick's entire body on fire.
“What’s wrong?” he asked the second he hit Answer.
“Charlie’s fine,” Chell said right away, apparently knowing Nick was going to be midspiral, because why would she call him in the middle of the night if something wasn’t wrong with Charlie?
“Chell,” he gasped out. “What happened?"
“He’s at the A&E right now, he got, well, he got banged up a bit. Someone called 999 and the fight got broken up pretty quickly but the guy was big, Nick, he got a few licks.”
