克劳德意识到，也许这就是他一直在等待的另一只鞋子。他的双手再次颤抖，紧张感贯穿全身，历史的力量告诉他，萨菲罗斯随时可能站起来，而克劳德必须以某种方式从身后芬里尔上那些希望没有受损的侧面隔间里掏出一把剑，然后在这根愚蠢的断裂肋骨中奋力杀出一条血路，直到巴雷特出现，或者直到萨菲罗斯获胜。他意识到 —— 他到底要意识到多少次啊 —— 他并不想那样，因为如果萨菲罗斯杀了他，他就无法回家帮丹泽尔做历史作业，修理蒂法一直担心的那扇漏风的窗户，也无法学会更好地剥橙子，更无法完成巴雷特屋顶的工作。他一直向尤菲保证，有朝一日会带丹泽尔和玛琳去五台看看，而且路那边有一个新的街头小吃摊，他想去尝试，还有，还有，还有。他现在哭了起来，大声地、希卡普地哭泣着，而萨菲罗斯仍然一言不发，完全没有理会克劳德，一动不动。克劳德感觉时间像一张折叠的纸一样啪地合上了，但他对此无能为力，所以他躺在草地上，任由自己哭泣。
当一只红翼黑鸟俯冲而过，落在附近一根旧篱笆桩上时，萨菲罗斯的头随之转动。随后，那只红翼黑鸟飞走了。
