Summary
Even though the war has ended, the world is still not at peace. There’s treaties to finalize, reparations to pay, and a new world order that is anything but stable.
Zuko’s advisors order him to marry quickly. He needs an heir, ideally multiple. In the back of his mind, he’d expected this. He just never thought they would suggest he marry an Earth Kingdom girl to stabilize the colonies and convince them that the Fire Nation truly does want peace.
Katara has a problem. The South has been devastated and the North won’t lend aid or men unless the tribes are united through a marriage. As daughter of the chief— and only Southern woman of marrying age— she must be the one to marry, although she detests her betrothed.
The more time they spend at court, the closer Zuko and Katara grow, threatening the very world they fought to save.
