Work Text:
stiff as can be, itadori tried his best to focus on the movie and ignore how perfect his boyfriend was. but how could he when fushiguro was simply just so beautiful? he was the embodiment of joy, the personification of the moon’s light. he was everything to itadori, and he wanted to kiss him so, so badly.
but itadori couldn’t, he was too scared to. what if they were going too fast? what if fushiguro didn’t like it? what if he messed up? there were so many factors that he couldn’t control, keeping itadori from making the first move. fushiguro was the best thing that’s ever happened to him, and he couldn’t risk losing that.
it also didn’t help that fushiguro was unbelievably gorgeous and itadori got flustered every time he thought about kissing him. he was so pretty, the most beautiful man in the entire world. itadori didn’t know how he managed to get someone like fushiguro, but he didn’t intend on losing him over a bad kiss.
it was stupid to be worrying about something like this, but itadori couldn’t help it. he had to wait, he needed to wait. so with his arm around fushiguro and fushiguro’s head resting on his shoulder, itadori held back against his own will. he couldn’t kiss him, not now, not yet.
-
“you are so fucking stupid,” kugisaki said blatantly, frown and all. “it’s been a week already, just kiss him.”
“but i don’t wanna rush things,” itadori whined. he’s been going to her to ask about the right time to kiss fushiguro almost everyday now, and she was more than tired of it.
“dude, maki and i made out the day we got together,” kugisaki said, “you are not rushing it.”
itadori pouted. “but what if fushiguro doesn’t want to?”
“i-” jaw dropped, kugisaki just looked at him like he was stupid, and he was. “i literally just saw you two cuddling, i’m pretty sure he wants to as much as you do.”
“but how do you know?”
kugisaki sighed and pinched the bridge of her nose. “literally just ask any of the second-years, they know just as well as i do. anybody with a brain can tell that fushiguro wants to kiss you. if he’s willing to be held in your arms, he wants to kiss you.”
itadori couldn’t really argue with the facts, but even so, he was worried. “but that’s cuddling, that’s different. besides, what if i’m bad at kissing and fushiguro hates me because of it?”
kugisaki’s eye twitched. “i’m leaving.”
-
“ah, young love,” gojo reminisced, his voice light and airy, “how adorable.”
after annoying kugisaki for so long, itadori decided to go to someone else for advice; though it wasn’t really advice, it was just him being a coward and fretting over every little thing.
“what do i do, gojo-sensei?” itadori asked, burying his face in his hands.
“well, shouldn’t that be obvious by now? you kiss him!” gojo responded with a cheeky grin, taking pleasure in making fun of his students. “you want to, don’t you? i’m sure megumi does as well, he really likes you.”
itadori’s ears perked up. “wait, what? how do you know? i mean, i know that he does, but do you know more than me?”
“of course i do, yuuji-kun!” gojo chuckled, propping his feet up on the coffee table. “i practically raised megumi, and believe me, i can tell. he’s never felt this way about anybody before.”
“...oh.” itadori couldn’t help the blush that painted his tan skin, warming his cheeks like the sun above him. his heart skipped a beat, and he couldn’t help the warm feeling in his chest.
grinning widely, gojo slapped itadori’s back. “go get him, tiger!”
it was painful and painfully corny, but itadori appreciated the sentiment.
-
another day passed, and suddenly, itadori was approached by the second-years while he was out for a jog.
“you kissed fushiguro yet?” maki asked, clearly just wanting to tease him. panda and inumaki probably did too.
itadori blushed and huffed. “i’m working on it. i’m just trying to find the right moment.”
“salmon cod roe,” inumaki said, gesturing over to fushiguro resting beneath a shady tree. even being drenched in sweat couldn’t stop itadori from finding him absolutely magnificent.
“no, i can’t,” itadori said as he shook his head, his face growing redder and redder. “he’s too pretty, i’ll mess up.”
“i don’t think fushiguro-kun is the type of person to care about that thing,” panda noted, earning a nod from both maki and inumaki.
“i know, i’m just nervous,” itadori admitted with a frown. it was embarrassing to say out loud, but it was true. he loved fushiguro more than anything, and he needed to show it to him.
“just try your best, alright?” maki grinned as panda and inumaki reciprocated, cheering him on. and itadori was going to, he just needed to actually try first.
-
“i don’t mean to intrude, but i overhear that you’re having trouble initiating the first move with fushiguro-kun, is that right?” nanami mentioned with a straight face on their way to a mission.
itadori didn’t even know how it migrated this far, but still, he nodded. “uh, yeah, i am.”
“i see,” nanami said with a nod. “what about it is worrying you?”
“i just don’t want to mess up,” itadori confessed, scanning the situation. “i really like fushiguro, and i want this to be as perfect as he is.”
“i understand your concerns, but i don’t think fushiguro-kun needs ‘perfect’,” nanami advised, watching the rain fall on his fingertips.
“but that’s what he deserves-”
“fushiguro-kun just needs you,” nanami said, his stoic eyes meeting itadori’s youthful ones. despite the seriousness in his tone, there was care in there as well, supporting itadori the best he could. itadori felt it, and it meant a lot to him.
itadori didn’t know what to say back, but it seemed like he didn’t have the time to as a cursed-spirit emerged, preoccupying him. he fought alongside nanami, exorcizing it to the best of his ability. but still, the thought lingered in his mind as did fushiguro.
-
there they were again, all snuggled up while watching a movie. and once again, itadori could barely focus on the movie. it was hard enough with fushiguro’s body pressed against his, but now he had nuzzled into his chest, a soft and comforting moan escaping his lips. itadori could feel fushiguro’s eyes on him, and he swore his heart was going to explode.
trying to compose himself, itadori looked down, his eyes meeting fushiguro’s beautiful, dark ones. he was so gorgeous, so perfect, so amazing. itadori wanted to kiss him so badly; and he actually might this time. they both inched closer, their hearts acting as one. itadori couldn’t wait, he almost forgot all his worries about kissing fushiguro-
“i need to get some water,” itadori announced, suddenly getting up as he headed for the door. he didn’t even look back at fushiguro, he was too embarrassed to. but just as he was about to reach for the door, he felt a hand grab his wrist and pull him back. he didn’t even get the chance to react when a pair of lips met his, finally knowing what heaven was like
fushiguro was kissing him, hard and strong with all the love in the world. their lips connected perfectly, fitting together like pieces of a puzzle. itadori kissed back, his hands wrapping around fushiguro’s waist while fushiguro’s lingered around his shoulders. this was even better than itadori ever imagined.
running out of air, they pulled back, their eyes glazed with lust and love. fushiguro chuckled and smirked, leaving itadori confused as can be. what was so funny? was he really that bad at kissing? he thought he was fine, what happened-?-
“that wasn’t so hard, now was it?” fushiguro teased with a sly grin. he was so effortlessly cunning and perfect, itadori swore he was going to marry him.
“no,” he said with a soft smile, “no, it wasn’t. i wish i kissed you sooner.”
fushiguro giggled. “well, now that you have, you wanna kiss me again?”
