Draco huffed, adjusting the grip on the books he was carrying close to his chest with a slight shimmy. Boot snorted beside him.

“You should start storing those in your book bag.”

Draco scowled at his housemate. “I would!” He sniffed, beginning to move again, Terry scrambling to follow after him. “If I had the space.”

As the two third-year Ravenclaws made their way down the hallway, walking past the open windows and shivering at the cold breeze that drifted past them, the sound of echoing footsteps approached them from behind.

“Malfoy! Malfoy, wait!”

At the call of his name, Draco turned around, brows scrunched, and eyes narrowed as a very familiar, shaggy-haired person was running towards him, green-black robes billowing behind him, green and white striped tie occasionally hitting his face. Draco couldn’t help but chuckle while Terry snickered beside him.

Potter stumbled to a clumsy stop in front of the two boys, grinning lopsidedly at Draco, cheeks subtly flushed behind the bronze of his skin in what Draco assumed was because of the cold.

“Hi.” He breathed out.

Draco nodded, “Hello.”

“I- Uh, I wanted to give you something.”

Draco watched as Potter dug through his robe pocket, patting it up and down before pulling out a most depetalled flower. The boy visibly wilted.

“Oh,” He looked back at Draco, eyes downcast as the flower slowly twirled between his pointer finger and thumb. “I wanted to give this to you, but— well, obviously, I can’t now.” He looked away, eyes drifting towards the wall beside him. “Sorry.”

Draco, much to his utter dismay, felt his heart beat a little faster, his arms and stomach growing tingly while his face flushed just at the thought of the younger boy going out in the snowy cold to grab a rare bloomed flower. Draco cleared his throat, glancing at Terry, who was grinning ear to ear, before looking back at Potter.

He thrust his hand out, tightly clutching his textbooks to ensure they wouldn’t fall. “Well,” he started. “Since you did all that work, you might as well hand it over, Potter.”

Potter almost cracked his neck from how fast he looked back at Draco, eyes comically wide and a grin returning on his face. He was accompanied by that (horribly adorable) blush.

He took Draco’s hand and placed the small, delicate red flower in his palm. Potter looked up from the flower and to Draco, dimples evident on either side of his face from just how widely he was smiling.

“I’ll see you later?”

Draco nodded, letting a small smile grace his face.

As Pot—Harry walked away, Terry cooed at Draco, dramatically swooning at his side, much to the blonde's annoyance. Though he couldn’t stop glancing back at the flower in his hand, smiling down at the beautiful, yet crumpled, red daisy, heart beating faster with every thought he had of the boy who happened to gift it to him.
